Hello all,

I live in BKK and just recently bought a 1969 Toyota Crown. Took it to the local guy recommended by office people for a plugs, cap and wires type tune up. Figured it would be a good test to see if he knew what he was doing. Had him do some other stuff such as move the seat back, saftey belts (had none) and refurb the original air cleaner. Basically his work pretty much sucks and I can't communicate at all with him. The engine is running rough and needs some work and I'm not going to have this guy touch it again.

Does anyone know a mechanic who has some english ability and does quality work. I don't care about cost so much as I just want quality, I know a hard concept out here sometimes. It should be a fairly straight fwd car to work on, straight 6 carb toyota. Basically an engine they used for like 20 years. I just know a good mechanic is worth their weight in gold and always hard to find.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You could try a friend of mine "Jufe" he has a garage on On Nut Road, he can speak English very good and his work is pretty good too. He is also a big fan of classic cars.

His number is 0898947915 - tell him that I told you to call him.

On Nut is pretty far for me as I'm Chatuchak but he's sounds like just the guy if he already likes working on old cars.

Wish you lived NE, scratching my nuts all day up here, my English isn't very good cos l was useless at school and spent my time chasing girls and messing with engines..

Too bad indeed. In the states all my friends were motor heads so if they didn't feel like fixing it (didn't need the money at the time) they'd point me in the right direction of an honest mechanic.
