Gonna get the train down to Koh Samui tomorrow from Bangkok what is the weather like at the moment am I gonna get a tan ?

Whats the best area to stay where I can have a bit of piece and quite during the day but something to do at night eg go for a drink perhaps meet other "farang" as they say

The weather was fabulous (last week). Some cloud sometimes but the sunshine is very strong and yes you will get a tan. I got sunburnt after spending a couple days (a few hours each) on Chaweng Beach (First House/Bungalow area) and I'm dark skinned (Asian) anyway!!

I thought First House is a great place to stay, it's the Southern-most hotel in Chaweng and is out of the way from the main town but only a 15-20 min walk so it's away from the crowd/noise (not that there is much). Plenty of foreigners to mingle with and get yourself to the Green Mango for nightlife action if that's your kind of thing. Have fun (I wish I was there again!!!).
