I am glad that there is somewhere here where we can make serious posts about our BG girlfriends or ex BG wives.....the Bargirls.com thing is not what I am looking for. The topics there are more derogatory than helpful.

As per a reply in another thread and so far not refuted by the mods

Bedlam is, by its very nature, unmoderated (for the most part.) This means that, in general, posting rules in operation elsewhere on the site are in abeyance here. Exceptions being subjects deemed to be illegal or concerning the Royal Family etc.

Bargirls are, therefore, permitted to be discussed as you will see if you look back over prevoius threads here.

The vast majority of posters in Bedlam have the right to post here because they have shown their maturity in their previous posting history on TV. In general those who would be likely to cause trouble here will have been banned before they have achieved the requisite number of posts to gain admittance.

forums like the aforementioned one doesnt deal with the guys that have BG's as gf's or wives that are ex BG's....they tend to talk more about the sleazy side of BG's.....I think it is possible to talk about ones GF or wife that have gone down that track in the same manner as those who have not....without having to refer to them in other ways.....I am not ashamed of my girl or what she has done...as I am sure that many other guys dont either...but as soon as we mention the BG thing...we are penalised for it.

I also agree that this forum is not for those who only want to discuss subjects such as where is the cheapest, who does this, where can I get this, type of talk.

Hmm, Im not sure gburns, I kinda thought that way but I'm sure I see a thread on bargirls in here that got closed though maybe I'm mistaken. :o

I totally agree with you, some discussions mentiong bargirls should be warranted, it does seem ridiculous that the biggest forum for expats in Thailand can't discuss bargirls since probably most guys in here have had relationships or are in a relationship with a bargirl or ex bargirl right now.

I do however think the amount of flame wars has decreased since they took bargirls out of the forum, but then again, some people enjoy a bit of heated discussion and it keeps the board active.

I have noticed that there seems to be a greater ratio of new members than old these days and I think that's not only due to thaivisa being so well placed in the search engines but perhaps some of the older members moved on elsewhere due to that particular forum policy.

It's a tricky subject that could I think have been dealt with better, but with none of us having experience of running such a large Thailand forum board, we can only make best guesses at the admins judgement.

The problem seems to me is that BG threads can often times start degrading and then denigrading the girls so we soon get an 'Erco' - type poster and the flame-wars erupt. :o

From the forum side of things, I'm sure words like bar girls, thai girls and sex combined are heavly searched terms for so surely the forum is missing out on a significant amount of traffic by not getting this kind of content?

Its true the Erco style posters are a pain, but thats the tricky thing about bargirls threads, lots of idiots jump right on them and love to start flaming. Perhaps better kept to the bedlam section if allowed here?

I personally think the subject could be discussed, both sensibly and discreetly, in Bedlam.

The only problem is, the terminology employed almost forces standard remarks, which inevitably develop into flames and worse.

I would humbly suggest what we need is an agreed synonym for the term BG - one that reflects and respects the seriousness with which many of our members consider their relationships.

This, hopefully, will keep those tempted to re-hash tired old clichés, a little more on the sidelines than otherwise would have been the case and also dissuade any sponsors from being too curious.

If you agree - any suggestions?

I think the term bargirls is ok, nothing wrong with it, no need to get politically correct here. I don't think a change of name will reflect the seriousness of members relationshsips with bargirls or former bargirls at all. Lets hope bedlam is a place where those tired old cliches dont come too often and if they do the appropriate slap on the wrist can be adminstered much more easily than on the main board where people can get banned and sign up again to continue their posts 5 minutes later.

I think the major issue is the sponsership, surely bargirls.com has come to some aggreement where any threads relating to bargirls are sent to them and to break that agreement would be a breach of contract? Again, need some mod or admin input needed regarding that.

But is there are really need to discuss bargirls...?

Maybe relationship wise, but that can be discussed in the open as long as every other word is not BG this, BG that..

totster :o

The subject is moot, as all the answers may be found within the pages of 'Private Dancer', now available at all good bookshops.

Apparently, an unsigned copy is rarer than a signed one.

'Private Dancer' was one of the shallowest, most naive pieces of tripe I've ever read re. LOS BG scene... :o

The answers are all in there - (Private Dancer)

I was at Church one sunday in Jakarta in early 2003, and there was a pretty girl reading a Bible during the post-service teatime.

'The answers are all in here' she said.

Then, about half a minute later she explained she had a current cashflow problem and was looking for men to have sex for money with her.

This really happened - and the funny thing was that she wasn't using the Church only as a cover, she really was worshipping while cruising.

What was it Jesus said about Mary Magdalene? :o

Was Jesus ever reported to have said anything about prostitution? I mean other than 'love thy neighbor'?

Yes, there is a sponsorship deal with www.barladies.com

I was reading a Japanese site a while back about japanese schoolgirls

The term they use now is "compensated dating"

The term they use now is "compensated dating"

What if they have a physical problem like missing an arm or a leg ? Wouldnlt that also mean you have to make other compensations ?

You have a mean sense of humour, Matt. :o

i've have the book on pdf, pm me if you want a copy :D

also we're talking about barladies dot com, not bargirls, the point is though that so much has been said and written about them, why not discuss alternative's beside dating agencies :o

Yes, there is a sponsorship deal with www.barladies.com

I know there is a sponsership deal, but is the requirement for the sponsership deal that every bargirl topic be closed with a link to their site or is it still at thaivisa.com's discretion?

I fear this is an issue that can only be decided by Admin. us mods do not really have such decision making powers. However Bedlam is a hidden forum, not accessed by the general public or members of insufficient standing. This, plus the essentially unmoderated scope of Bedlam should therefore place it outside the scope of any agreement with bargirls.com.

We opened Bedlam up to members who qualify due to their number of posts because we presumed, so far correctly for the most part, that only "sensible" posters would survive on TV long enough to gain admittance. Hopefully this will keep flamers from destroying any sensible BG threads that might be started.

Bedlam is intended as a venue for sensible, adult discussion of topics that can not be addressed elsewhere on the forum. Bargirls and Politics are two such examples. No problems will occur and Bedlam will continue for such discussions as long as we keep this in mind and do not get too carried away..

good post mate :o

Just what exactly is a BG thread? If you don't talk about cost for services or the bar fee then just what do you talk about? If you have a girlfriend who works in a bar and she lies to you alot and you want to talk about this in Bedlam is this a BG thread?....just because she works in a bar? To me it is a thread about a relationship involving a bar employee. If there is a woman working in a bar and she is a prostitute and you employ her and you want to post about this in Bedlam then it would be really boring and probably unwanted...but to me it would be just as boring if she was a street walker and not a bar employee. I guess I'd like to see an example of a bargirl.....it just dawned on me to go to that other site and see one......bye....

What good luck!! Went over, took a look, and returned in time to edit this post.

Well its kind of boring what I saw. If people want to discuss these sorts of things then they can certainly do it over there....why would they want to do it here? Seems like alot of people are over there doing it and no one cares so over there seems like the best place for this sort of topic.....however if someone wanted to talk about someone who happened to be a BG but the discussion didn't involve sex acts or sexiness etc. etc....then for me it would be OK here.

What I'm really curious about is why would someone want to post that kind of topic here when they can easily do it over there with no problem?

Good question Chownah.

I don't know, but I guess it is because they a.) specifically want to hear the opinions from other Thaivisa members b.) expect more sensible responses here than at barladies..?

Personally, I got thoroughly bored when every other thaivisa topic in the General and Fun, Entertainment and Expat life was about bar girls.

I agree with this comment....there are plenty of forums where you can talk about the sex side of BG's and I wouldnt want to see that here either.....But I am sure that there are topics that would be specific to BG's....that some people may want to know about or discuss.....without it resorting to the type of posts you see at the other site

Examples? Using politically correct language, of course.

Threads do happen where BG experiences are discussed here in bedlam, just remember why the bg threads were squashed, erco comes to mind as one who hijacked threads.

This subject will allways be sensitive and subject to scrutiny even here, but we expect the posters here will be above that standard. :D:o

Whilst I agree with you that bar girls will always be a sensitive subject, it is an instrinsic part of the Thai social life. It is inevitable that good and bad experiences will be unveiled, actually by the very nature of the forum, I think that you are more to get postings from negative experiences.

Ok.....my girl worked daytime in a bar.....as a waitress serving drinks and meals for 18 months....occassionally she went with men...but that was by her choice alone and she had to be at work the next day....she was saving her days off to go and see her kid in BKK.....As I was seeing her outside of her working hours, dinner and drinks etc...I never BF'd her...I did give her money during the time I spent with her....What do other members think of this...does she come under the mantle of BG or not ??
