Manuka Honey

This honey comes from New Zealand (maybe Australia too). It's always labelled as such in shope in England.

Anyone seen it on sale anywhere in Thailand?

I've already looked in the supermarkets in Chiangmai and the best malls in Bangkok - other than the Bkk Central now razed to the ground.

I saw a docu on this some time ago... interesting, but it sounds like this honey has the exact same properties as is claimed by local Thais about their dark "jungle honey".

So it seems, manuka honey is best when produced by wild hives.

All honey is antibacterial and antifungal... just the some are more so, it seems.

If you haven't tried the dark Thai jungle honey or "wild honey", you should give it a try.

It has a unique flavor as well, and I'd be willing to bet it is just as antibacterial and antifungal as manuka honey.

I get mine sent over from New Zealand by post, and so far every shipment has arrived okay. Obviously the honey with the "highest activity" as regards antibacterial/antimicrobial (laboratory tested of course) costs a lot more.

In a breakthrough for the industry in New Zealand, wound dressings impregnated with New Zealand Manuka honey have been tested and cleared for use in hospitals, some in the UK. It is particularly helpful for ulcers and for wounds which do not respond to normal medical treatment and there have been some very encouraging and almost miraculous cures for these types of wounds.

Oh jesus, 1000 Baht a jar? Now I know why the monks were so crazy to get their hands on it.

Come to think of it, I have now seen a box with 10,000 baht worth of honey in it. <deleted> is with this world.
