Any Band Gigs You Can Recommend Tomorrow?

Featured Replies

does anyone know of any good live bands playing tomorrow night, just want to sip a few beers an listen to some music (not covers).

thanks for any help

Shame, Slash from Guns n' Roses was due to play tonight opposite Central World but it got cancelled due to the political situation. Now he's in Indonesia instead! :realangry:

The live-music scene (and I am talking about non-covers) has been pretty lame in the recent past (except for the BUZZCOCKS late last year).

the only place to see some half-decent non-cover-bands would be ROCK PUB, plus maybe METAL-ZONE or NORIEGAS, if you are lucky.

http://www.bangkokgi...m/gigstoday.php could help. though, you have to scroll down half an hour until u reach the "non-cover" section ;-)

I am usually forced to stick to my 1.500 alternative- / Indie-CDs these days, to the pleasure of my Thai neighbors

Metal Zone closed a few years ago. A classic rock club called Quake arose in its place, but it too closed during the redshirt occupation of that neighborhood, and, like many small businesses in the Rajprasong area, were forced toclose permanently after being barricaded in for nearly three months.

Noriegas closed around the same time (April to June) and for the same reasons, but has re-opened recently under a new name, Nomads. Same format in terms of bands, mostly geezer rock with some surprises now and then.

Bangkok Rocks on Sukhumvit Soi 19 usually has live music on Fri and Sat nights, sometimes indie bands playing all-original music, sometimes pop rock bands. They might be worth a try.

Common Ground on Samsen Rd near Soi 3 has live music on and off throughout the week, sometimes good indie or punk bands, sometimes acoustic. A few well-known Thai musicians drop in to jam there on weekends when not playing elsewhere.

Just down Samsen Rd (towards Khao San), Ad Here the 13th Blues Bar features live blues and R&B from Wed through Sun. Saturday nights are usually pretty happening. A few notches better than most blues cover bands in Thailand, and they do have about 12 original songs they play.

Also check out Club Culture, which had a live line-up last night but nothing tonight. More on the way, mostly electro, punk and BritPop.

Nospace Gallery in RCA has live music most Saturday nights, usually noise or indie.

Several clubs along Khao San Rd have live music: Brick Bar (ska, rock, hip-hop), Shamrock Club (hard rock, metal; read amusing blog on one of the house bands there, at http://www.musictowers.co.uk/?tag=khao-san-road), Gazebo (classic and modern rock) and Immortal Bar (rock, punk, hardcore, nu-metal, Saturday night only).

Bangok Jungle has an up-to-date list of selected live gigs:

The Bangkok Gig Guide, recommended by another poster, hasn't been updated since 2006.
