Pitching our tent we headed to the nearest inn for some lubrication, not that we could afford much When the locals realized we were English and just out of school, they couldn't do enough for us, free lager all round, plus something to eat.The only condition was we had to arm-wrestle our hosts. Needless to say,two puny schoolboys had no chance against the strapping Bavarian farmers.Perhaps it was some consolation for losing the war.Anyway, nice and generous people.
