Unfortunately Weston- super-Mere, ( a tremendous name it must be admitted), does not register on the radar of any present day excursioner in the region.. And with good reason, because it's basically mud flats that look dreadful when the tide goes out When the tide is in it's still looks murky, unless there is a perfect blue sky above, in which case the illusion of a Costa Del Sol can be imagined for fleeting spells. 2 Englishmen escaped this desperate environment, one is that monument of British comedy, John Cleese.
