Hotel

Featured Replies

Well that time of year again and pops is on his way over for a few weeks.

So for a treat its five star for him,

need reccomendations for a 5 star hotel in bangkok , have stayed at the landmark and jw marriot on his last two visits. should i book him back in one of them or try another ?

banyan tree , others ?

happy to cough up 10k a night for three nights ( 18 to 20 aug ), but not shy of a bargain either !

thanks in advance

Let him stay on the River mate - much better view / air than Sukhumvit.

hi james ,

was kinda thinking that, never stayed any where there myself , assume alls good for transport and stuff , what hotel would you reccomend ?

The Oriental will never disappoint. In my limited experience fantastic in everyway.

You might want to take a look at the Peninsular, as i've heard it's very good but have personally never stayed there.

Good selection of Hotels on the River : Oriental, Shangri-La, Hilton Millenium, Marriot Riverside and Peninsula.

Don't know where pops is from, but the Shangri-la used to do great deals when booked from the UK. The deals were in a second wing that was close to the water taxis, water buses and the sky train.

Oriental - fabulous hotel, but only seems to do corporate deals (tell them you work for Credit Swiss:-)

All the hotels mentioned are great but its the Sukhothai every time for me. I guess it depends on what he likes, and how he relaxes, but the Suk is peaceful and quiet, the service outstanding and they have the landscaping/pool areas just right. Showing its age a little, but still my first choice...

Pathumwan Princess.. Handy for MBK and the train..

Lebua if the above are a bit too "toppy".

Put hm in the Nana. It is not 5 Star, but has plenty of enjoyable social activities for old folks. The Oriental can get sort of lonely. :D

The brand new Siam Kempiski conveniently located behind Paragon -easy access to BTS- is doing very good deals for its soft opening.

I don't know about you guys but putting my dad up on Sukhumvit / Siam Square (at his age) would be punishment. The OP says the budget is 10k a night - go to the river. Easy connecting by boat to the BTS on either side.

Looks a very nice hotel...but £100+ a night after recent events and in these economic times is a tad optimistic!
