I have attached the forum rules for you. :D

A valid e-mail address is required to register for the forums.

After you agree to the terms listed below, we will send you a validation e-mail. The email will include a link to validate and approve the registration. You will need to complete the validation process to become a member with posting rights.

Company names, acronyms of company names, domain names and email addresses are not permitted for user names or avatars. Please use discretion when choosing a name and avatar as obscenities or images that breach other rules are not allowed and will be removed without notice

English is the only acceptable language, except within the Thai language forum, where of course using Thai is allowed.

Use of our forums

Please remember that we can not actively monitor the contents of, and are not responsible for, any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Thaivisa.com or any entity associated with Thaivisa.com.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately via the report function. We do have the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process so please realize we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. Responding to objectionable messages is discouraged.

Please preview and proofread what you have written before posting. Posting in all capitals or in all bold, and using large or unusual fonts and colors is bad netiquette. Misspellings and grammatical errors can make posts difficult to understand. However English is not always the first language of our members so don't waste space correcting other members' grammar and spelling where it isn't necessary.

Please consult guidelines for posting here:

In addition to the rules listed here, which apply to all branches of the ThaiVisa Forum, some branches have additional guidelines pinned at the top of the opening page. Please read these, as you are responsible for following these rules as well.

When you post in any forum on ThaiVisa, you are granting a license to Thaivisa.com to display that post publicly

In using Thai Visa I agree:

1) To respect fellow members.

2) Not to express disrespect of the King of Thailand or anyone else in the Thai royal family, whether living or deceased, nor to criticize the monarchy as an institution. Speculation, comments and discussion of either a political or personal nature are not allowed when discussing HM The King or the Royal family. Discussion of the lese majeste law or lese majeste cases is permitted on the forum, providing no comment or speculation is made referencing the royal family. To breach this rule will result in immediate ban.

3) Not to post in a manner that is vulgar, obscene or profane .

4) Not to flame fellow members.

Flaming will not be tolerated. 'Flaming' is defined as posting or responding to a message in a way clearly intended to incite useless arguments, to launch personal attacks, to insult, or to be hateful towards other members. This includes useless criticism, name-calling, swearing and any other comments meant to incite anger.

5) Not to post inflammatory messages on the forum, or attempt to disrupt discussions to upset its participants, or trolling.

Trolling can be defined as the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet by posting controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

6) Not to post comments that could be reasonably construed as defamation or libel.

Defamation is the issuance of a false statement about another person, which causes that person to suffer harm. Libel involves the making of defamatory statements in a printed or fixed medium, such as a magazine or newspaper.

7) Not to post slurs or degrading comments directed towards any group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

8) Not to post extremely negative views of Thailand or derogatory comments directed towards all Thais.

9) Not to discuss proxies or other methods of bypassing government blocking of websites.

10) Not to post commercial spam or to post any promotional links, URLs or addresses to a member's own business or that would lead people to your site. Not to post URL links to other forums . Not to flood, post commercial or for-profit advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and similar solicitations.

Any member who violates this prohibition will be banned from all forums on this website.

Advertisers are the only members allowed to post links, URL's or addresses to their sites.

11) Our contracts with our advertisers prohibit comments with regard to advertisements which appear on our forums. Such comments should not be posted and will be removed. Discussion of software or other methods to block advertisements is not allowed.

12) Not to spam other forum members via PM or emails. To do so will result in an immediate ban and a report will be made to spammers' ISPs as well as to Spamcop. We will also take legal action against spamming site owners. Be warned!

13) Not to post email addresses in posts due to potential spam problems.

14) Not to place phone numbers, emails, company names or web addresses in signatures. Web addresses to non-commercial sites or blogs may be posted in a member's profile page.

15) Not to use ThaiVisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, inaccurate, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You also agree not to post negative comments criticizing the legal proceedings or judgments of any Thai court of law.

16) Not to post about gambling, betting, pornography, illegal drugs, fake goods/clothing etc and other activities that are officially illegal in Thailand.

17) Not to post links to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, file-sharing, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, eBay listings and requests for donations.

18) Not to discuss the specifics of prostitution.

Thailand has a visible sex industry, and acknowledgment of that fact is not forbidden. However ThaiVisa is not the place to seek or give information on this topic, regardless of your sexual habits, preferences or orientation.

19) Not to post other members' personal details, photos or web site details. Doing so will result in an instant ban.

20) Not to post personal messages from other members, whether in full or in part.

21) Not to discuss moderation publicly in the open forum; this includes individual actions, and specific or general policies and issues. You may send a PM to a moderator to discuss individual actions or email support (at) thaivisa.com to discuss moderation policy

22) Not to post any copyrighted material except as fair use laws apply (as in the case of news articles).

23) To use discretion when using blind references in any post or signature. Not all users of ThaiVisa.com are experienced enough to understand where these links may point.

24) To acknowledge that all advice voluntarily given by any member in any ThaiVisa Forum is provided free of charge as well as liability.

25) Members are forbidden to solicit for or accept donations, gifts etc. for providing such advice to visitors and members. Likewise, it is not permitted to steer or solicit members and visitors to go to locations or businesses where it is necessary to pay for services or assistance. The exception is ThaiVisa.com sponsors, who may reasonably promote themselves.

26) Not to create multiple accounts. Any member found to have more than one account on the ThaiVisa Forum will be suspended. Suspended or banned members found creating additional accounts will be banned immediately.

27) To release ThaiVisa.com from any responsibility for information found using Internet links posted on the forum (including links from our advertisers)

28) Not to post missing person posts except with the explicit approval of admin (email support[at]ThaiVisa.com).

29) Not to lobby members.

30) Do not modify someone else's post in your quoted reply, either with font or color changes, added emoticons, or altered wording.

31) All members are not allowed to quote news articles or material from Associated Press (AP), bangkokpost.com or phuketwan inside topics on thaivisa.com. Posts containing quotes will be deleted from the forum. Links referring back to the sites are also not allowed and will be deleted.

Please be informed that ThaiVisa is an apolitical discussion forum, meaning that we take an unbiased position in regard to political matters in Thailand. As such, ThaiVisa will not permit itself to become a sounding platform for members to lobby other members to effect changes to or suggestions on political issues or Thai government decrees. This does not mean that members cannot voice a political opinion as ThaiVisa is first and foremost a discussion forum, but lobbying for any kind of action is forbidden.

Because there is a new one started by George, the owner of the site under the Phuket news forum. The rules are stated just below the search entry area on every page. Yours' was not verified news as it didn't have a verified news source linked to it. I'll sent you a PM with further information.

ok, so cause i knew the guy who was killed but am not an official news source, i can not post about it?!

Hope you got my private message. You did start it and it was open until a source that doesn't have an issue with copyright was quoted, then it was moved to the official news forum. I totally understand your frustration and have addressed it with the administrators of this website. But they are the ones liable for anything posted on this website. I don't know how long you have been in Thailand but there are many defamation lawsuits here, so they must be careful...

What you did was not wrong. They let your topic run until it could be substantiated with a credible news source. Don't take any offence that TV closed your topic. Thanks for the heads up this morning though.

Good explanation. And since this topic is discussing moderation policy it is closed. As the forum rules state, if you have a question on moderation, in this case why a topic was closed, then contact a moderator with the question.
