I know quite a few educated professionals who don't give a fig about integrating.

There is a lot of older guys married to young uneducated ladies that contribute quite a lot to their community and poot pasa Thai gang.

And some of the foreigners in Pattaya just got off the plane. They learn to slither later on.

I love the ones who, just to be sure their message of banality is fully absorbed by the masses, write to both the BP and the Nation. Not forgetting that these missives of utter tedium are the ones that are actually selected for publishing. Christ only knows the ones that get rejected.

2 words. Internet porn. A much more fruitful way to spend your time.

3/ the rest of us: a decidely small group of educated, professionals who are integrated (more or less) into the society, working with Thais, contributing to the country, paying taxes and speaking the language.

I guess this blokes education didn't stretch to the superfluous use of a comma after educated.

The really annoying constant letter writer to BP who really gets on my tits is Eric Bart.

Vegan, self appointed lecturer and general knob. jap.gif

Not forgetting that one who writes those poems on certain special days of the year. Brings pretentiousness to a whole new level of existence.

Can I be a mixture of 1 & 3? I don't like slithering all the time, but the other choice sounds pretty boring. 20396-Clipart-Illustration-Of-A-Snake-Businessman-With-One-Hand-In-His-Pocket-Slithering-His-Tongue-And-Reaching-Out-To-Shake-Hands.jpg

Actually one of the big advantages of no 2, being 'lost somewhere up country', is the limited exposure to this sort of garbage.....:D ,

Edit: sorry UG didn't mean your garbage, I meant the letter writers garbage.....:D

Any educated (or uneducated reasonable person) person would have started his statement, with the qualifier " in my opinion" yet this person being Quoted seems to have Empirical evidence that there are only 3 types of ex-pats living in Thailand,

I guess that places him in a 4th category, I will leave it to you to guess what that category might be, but it involves bodily orifices utilized in dispensing excrement of the same quality as the quote.

Kinda like all the letter writers and posters that have to start their comments with "my NON bar girl TG" or "my TG who is chinese Thai" its all really just bigots making noise hardly worth worrying about or responding to. I guess much like I shouldn't have wasted the two minutes it took me to reply I guess hahaha....

I'm surprised there wasnt an option 4. Thai visa poster & expert expat, specially skilled in fast wity reply posts and pathetic bickering skills over nothing. Since its missing it looks like I really dont qualify, im not a professional, i loathe pattaya and my better half is a bangkokian just a couple of years younger than myself.

:( don't ya just hate it when you dont fit into the little moulds to keep people happy.

That reply in today's BKK Post took the importance off the real issue he should have addressed in his reply: why the Thai government aren't interested in offering foreigners here more slack for house and land purchases plus visa rules. He felt it was because most of the foreigners here were considered low society and not worth appeasing! Now that's worrying - either his opinion or if there's any hint of truth in it.

Thai Rak Thai indeed and we hate it when we're on the undercard, but don't you wish the governments back in the homelands loved us like this? If Thailand has welcomed foreigners with open arms in all things visa/vote/land entitlements I can imagine how Buri Ram might look now. :-)
