Doctors And Hospitals In Malaysia (Kl)

Featured Replies

Hi guys

As I have completely lost faith in Thai doctors (im sure there are good ones I just have not been lucky to find any) I was thinking about getting my tests and a possible operation done in Malaysia (gastrointestinal).

I recently watched a programme on Al jazeera which was about Singaporeans crossing over to Malaysia and getting their stuff done there as it was cheaper and just as good. I know Malaysia is mainly made up of Indian and Chinese and both these countries have strong reputations for solid doctors, just wondering has anyone else done anything like this or have experience with Malaysian healthcare..?

ah thanks alot Im looking them up as we speak, just wondering has anyone any experience with the doctors in Kuala Lumpur...?

Whats the procedure, do I just turn up like here in Thailand...? Is the price more or less the same...?

I can personally testify to the excellent hospitals on Penang Island, having had quite a few operations there over the last 5 years. The Government Hospital is quite adequate and very cheap indeed, although you have to get up early and get in line. In ascending order of cost Adventist, Gleneagles and Island Hospitals are excellent private establishments. Mine is the Adventist, in which I have undergone (among other) a quad heart bypass and am still here to tell the tale.

Like you, I really don't trust Thai health care. Shame really, but there it is.
