Bo Phut Beach

Featured Replies

Hello folks

I am looking at Samui in March next year.

My ideal day is on the beach until too hot , then to swimming pool with some coldies in arvo. A massage every day. Accomodation within walking distance of restaurants and bars ( a few drinks with the missus)

Bo Phut Beach seemed a good scenic beach that suited until read less than

flattering report in Lonely Planet " on the muddy side with shallow water "

Is Lonely Planet correct ? If yes, any other suggestions on Samui ?

P.S For those who know Phuket I liked Kata Noi best so hoping for similar

beach/beach scenery as there.

Cheers

well i dont know your life style .. for me i love to stay on beach in day time..for night time i would love to party ..if i was u,i would choose Chaweng .. :D

when i read your thread, i can feel u love quiet place..well Bo Phut and Kata Noi should be ok for u

well..i think maybe it is , from Lonely Planet

bambi , :o

Bophut is OK but think Maenam will be better for you.

Lovely beach with palmtrees on the beach and if you think it is too quiet for the evening, you can always take a taxi to Chaweng or Bophut. But I think there is enough if you just want some food and a drink and not all the hussle and bussle of Chaweng.

Bophut is OK with it's romantic atmosphere, restaurants and bars but the beach it's not that nice like in Maenam. In Maenem there's nothing much to do at night except early night in bed.

Why don't you try both places and choose the one will suit you? They are few minutes drive from each other. Day time in Maenem beach, evenings in Bophut.

I would do this way. Hope everybody agree with me...

Hi

I lived on Maenam for some months and for me was just right. Good beach, a bit steep but that can give some nice waves to play in. As others have said it’s quieter than the other main beaches, though on a quick visit recently it has livened up a bit but it’s a long beach with plenty of accommodation choice.

Usually when I go to a new beach I just take the first bungalow I come across then rent a motorbike for a couple of days to get the feel of the place before deciding where to settle in.

Just one word of caution Samui is reputed to have the worst motor bike accident statistics so be careful especially at might. Unfortunately the local “taxis” really jack up their prices at night but usually still a safer bet than weaving your own back to your bungalow amongst all the other “happy holiday makers” if you have had a few.

Hope this helps.

Why not Lamai? Beautfiul beach and I always managed to find a quiet spot when I lived there 3 years ago. Not sure if it's changed in line with the general growth of the island though.
