Didn't know it was Halloween already... :o

I don't get it

You right wing lunatics would have gone mad if a "dem" or a "leftie" would have removes those cross if Bush army of the dead would have held a prayer on his ranch.

But then when it's a sad grieving mother protesting the war, you "lunatics" will become disrespectful and do things highly questionable about your true "motives". Is that really your true "values" ? pathetic and sad

Isn't Seattle the home of Microsoft?

This could explain a lot of things.

Haven't heard whether Bill Gates indulges or not but it does get the creative juices flowing! Just ask Aldus Huxley & Louis Carroll. :D

I guess you are responding to my post...not sure...if so then you are slyly saying that I'm an unimaginative pedant...this is very embarrasing and discomforting and I feel that I must change your opinion of me so I will rephrase my reply.

New reply: "I imagine that Microsoft's main campus is in Redmond which is a suburb of Seattle."

Searching for Tom Cruise height? - for all those 'shorties' out there! :D

Everything below was copied and pasted from this link:http://science.slashdot.org/science/05/08/20/1933242.shtml?tid=99&tid=14

The military commanders weren't even consulted before the bomb was dropped.

"MacArthur's views about the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were starkly different from what the general public supposed." He continues, "When I asked General MacArthur about the decision to drop the bomb, I was surprised to learn he had not even been consulted. What, I asked, would his advice have been? He replied that he saw no military justification for the dropping of the bomb. The war might have ended weeks earlier, he said, if the United States had agreed, as it later did anyway, to the retention of the institution of the emperor."

Norman Cousins, The Pathology of Power, pg. 65, 70-71.

Eisenhower recommended against dropping the bomb.

"During his recitation of the relevant facts, I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives. It was my belief that Japan was, at that very moment, seeking some way to surrender with a minimum loss of 'face'. The Secretary was deeply perturbed by my attitude..."

- Dwight Eisenhower, Mandate For Change, pg. 380

Admiral Lehay opposed the bombings, stating that they achieved nothing.

"It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons.

- William Leahy, I Was There, pg. 441.

The vice chairman of US bombing survey said that the a-bombs were not necessary.

"While I was working on the new plan of air attack... (I) concluded that even without the atomic bomb, Japan was likely to surrender in a matter of months. My own view was that Japan would capitulate by November 1945."

Paul Nitze, From Hiroshima to Glasnost, pg. 36-37 (my emphasis)

However the most damning evidence came from the Director of Naval Intelligence.

"Just when the Japanese were ready to capitulate, we went ahead and introduced to the world the most devastating weapon it had ever seen and, in effect, gave the go-ahead to Russia to swarm over Eastern Asia.

"Washington decided that Japan had been given its chance and now it was time to use the A-bomb.

"I submit that it was the wrong decision. It was wrong on strategic grounds. And it was wrong on humanitarian grounds."

Ellis Zacharias, How We Bungled the Japanese Surrender, Look, 6/6/50, pg. 19-21.

Ellis makes it clear beyond reasonable dispute that the a-bombs were dropped for POLITICAL reasons, not MILITARY reasons.

Anything entitled "The Truth about....." always makes me think that they are trying just a bit too hard to make you believe what they're saying. I could be wrong (surprise surprise) but the link is probably twisted..but don't take my word for it....

Yeah, I went out there and see that now! hahahah The link you presented contains the views of one out of six scientists who were interviewed by FRONTLINE/NOVA producer Jon Palfreman concerning the topic of global warming. The one you presented is the most extreme arguement against global warming being serious. If people want to find out about opinions on both sides of this issue I suggest that they read all six interviews which can be found here:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/warming/debate/

This link goes to a page with links to all six of the interviews....the one you linked to is one of these six.

Yep, the debate goes on. Meanwhile, it is getting noticeably warmer, no matter if it is due to mankind's acitivities or not.

(Personally I find it very, very hard to believe that we would NOT have a negative effect on the weather patterns, considering that molecules are circulated and we can clearly see the very tangible negative effect we have had on the ecological diversity and, more importantly water quality of the earth.)

Let's call this the 'News Item' of the Day:

George Galloway and Jane Fonda

In an almost unbelievable convergence of old and new idiocies, panderer to radical Islam George Galloway will be introduced in Madison, Wisconsin (a city with one of the largest Arab populations in the US) by none other than ... wait for it ... Hanoi Jane. :D

"In an introductory speech in Madison for antiwar British politician and author George Galloway, actress Jane Fonda is making her first public statement against the occupation of Iraq.

Fonda is scheduled to give her 20-minute introduction to Galloway, a Member of Parliament, at the Wisconsin Union Theatre Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. She is also scheduled to speak the following night in Chicago as Galloway continues his national speaking tour.

Chris Dols, the local organizer for Galloway’s tour, said that these two speeches are the only that Fonda will give with Galloway, who was expelled from the Labor Party after making remarks opposing the Iraq invasion in 2003.

Dols said that Fonda, a prominent activist against the Vietnam War, decided to join Galloway to “help give him a stage and raise his profile.”

“I think it cuts both ways,” Dols said. “On one hand, people are interested in talking about Jane Fonda. And the whole point of the national tour is to talk about what George Galloway represents.”

Should be interesting - I'd like to be there... :o

Boon Mee, On behalf of all the Jane Fonda fans everywhere I want to thank you for doing so much to spread her name and fame around the world. By your continual mention of her name you (and those of your ilk) have been an invaluable asset in keeping her in the world spotlight. THANK YOU!!!
