New Phuket Aquarium

Featured Replies

I assume the renovation over at the Phuket Aquarium is finished? Has anyone been yet? Reviews please.

Pre the renovation it was one of those places that dual prices and wont take a Thai ID / DL as proof of local resident.

It was pretty weak back then, with some of the tanks having less then healthy fish (looked like fin rot) but to be fair it cant get much traffic in its location. Of course you would assume its improved.

We where there earlier in the year, i do not think its been renovated since then

They except a Thai Drivers license as proof of local residence so you only pay the same entrance fee as Thais.

Its definitely worth seeing even though its a bit out of the way.

If you go also take a look around the outside of the aquarium where you can get a better idea of the conservation work that goes on there. There are signs to the various buildings and tanks. They are not really tourist exhibits, however.

Last time we visited a few months ago there was some new renovation going on. Our kids always enjoy it, and since you can always get in for local price, it's a little bit of cheap entertainment. As a diver I like showing the marine life to the kids and each visit they learn something new.
