Jatuporn to Speak on Red Stage in Chiang Mai

A key red-shirt leader in Chiang Mai revealed a large number of protesters have joined the red-shirt gathering in the northern province to mark the 4th anniversary of the Sept 19 coup. Key Bangkok red-shirt leader and Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Phrompan is expected totake the stage and address the protesters tonight.

Energy Minister Orders Security to Be Stepped up at Oil Depots

The energy minister has ordered security to be tightened at oil depots, electricity plants and gas separation plants around the country in fear of possible terrorist attacks.

4 Buddhists massacred in Narathiwat

Narathiwat

Four Buddhist villagers were slain by Muslim insurgents who raided their village Saturday night.

The attack against the Buddhists' houses in Hutaeyuloh village in Tambon Bareh in Bacho distict happened at 8 pm.

The insurgents attacked three houses and killed the residents before setting the houses on fire.

The four were identified as Charoensilp Boonthong, 47, Hong Khongphet, 76, Chuen Khongphet, 83, and Somsri Boonthong.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that the insurgents arrived in a pick-up truck and on two motorcycles.

They strafed the houses with M16 assault rifles and pour gasoline on the houses' walls inside the rooms and set them on fire before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses said the Buddhist villages pleaded for their life in vain.

Police said the attackers were believed to be the members of the RKK or young Muslim insurgents.

Thousands of reds occupy Rajprasong

Thousands of red-shirt protesters have occupied the Rajaprasong Intersection as part of their protest against the coup four years ago and fatal crackdowns against their peers four months ago.

As of 2:45 pm, the red crowds have almost totally occupied Rajprasong.

Some estimated their number to be higher than 3,500.

The protesters shouted in unison: "People have died here".
