I am not sure where you are based, but you buy a battery from most mechanical repair places. If they can service/repair the car - they can usually sell a battery.

I cannot remember the last price that I paid, less than 2,000 baht I think.

Be careful of the battery terminal sizes. There are at least two different ones for a jeep. (Yep - small and large.)

I would not consider a second hand one. They are usually second hand for a reason.

Let us know what area you are in and maybe someone knows a local name for you.

(You can buy a battery charger from Supot Electric on the ring road near Maenam/Bophut. They are slow but good.)

Totally in agreement.

Unless you need that battery because you're about to sell your vehicle and just need some power to have it started for at least a couple of days, I also wouldn't consider a second hand battery. It will maybe cost half the price of a new one but will last at most half the time and will give you ten times the troubles. Why not get a new maintenance free or at least one that needs water once in a while but at least new? If you can't afford a car new battery, maybe you can't really afford the vehicle...

You paid 3 K !!!! They are normally 700 thb

700 Baht!! You must be joking... It's double that for a decent motorbike one.

Not true, if you are talking about a motorscooter. I recently bought a new sealed battery of reasonable quality for 400 baht. Prices do vary depending on model etc & of course you will pay more for a BIGBIKE one.

I bought a brand new ( well I hope it was ) battery for a ford ranger for 700 thb ( this was 2 years ago ) , but got quoted the same for a new battery on a hilux the other day

For a good battery for a big (ish) bike, you're looking at 1,500Baht.

I'm surprised at the cheapness of a car battery, tho i haven't bought one in years.

My car battery, for a good one, was 2,300 Bht. My motorbike, for a Jell Cell, not lead acid installed was close to 700 Bht. I think lead acid batteries are abound 350 installed. It's been a few years since I've bought either...
