Hello,

I'm moving to Thailand soon. i will start a study at a university for several years.

I know that with a Non-ED Visa you can not officially work, with an exeption for internships. However, I heard that it is unofficially possible. How does this work if one works for a language institution for example. Does the employee get his pay in cash? Does he stay out of the paperwork? Or is it a question of a negligible change of being caught without a working permit? Or is it a question of 'buying' a working permit?

Is it possible to get Thai health insurance if you're in Thailand as a student? Is it possible to get Thai health insurance if you have a part-time job?

And off topic: how much does a visit to the dentist / fixing a cavity cost?

why? because of the touchy subjectmatter? or because they wouldn't know the answers? if it's because of the working-permit question, please ignore that and answer the health insurance ones!

I' ve worked illegally here. I wouldn't recommend it. You would put all that you are here for in a vulnerable position. It would be really stupid.

Dental.....got a teeth cleaning done yesterday at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital Dental Clinic. It had been quite a while since the last one. 1700 baht. Fillings...amalgam 500-800 baht. Composite 600-1200 according to their price list.

I don't know about insurance.

Health and life insurance are available here in Thailand. They cost the same as anywhere in the world. You have to weight the costs of paying for insurance in advance or getting sick and paying for hospital treatment. Dental work is always a bargain, at nearly dentist, $400 bhat for a filling or cleaning.

Working illegally is illegal and your questions have been answered so further discussion is not required. Thread closed.
