I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum, but I think that people posting here will have the most knowledge about this subject :) I'll make it short and sweet. I'm 28 years old, from Europe and living in Thailand since a bit over 5 years. I'm married here on a non-immigrant O visa based on the marriage to my wife. I live from my income from a company that I own back in Europe. I can live well in Thailand from this income, but ...here comes the problem. I left high school at the age of 17 because the company I started took up too much of my time and I had to decide between a chance of making good money versus a good education. I chose the company back then and I'm still living fairly well from my investment.

That's not the problem. I don't feel fully happy never having finished high school and especially not happy about an "unsafe" future. While I do have my income now, I still want to have a backup plan in place, an education that I can fall back on when needed. I know an education doesn't guarantee me a job in the future, but at least it improves my chances. So, the facts are:

- I never got a high school diploma.

- I want to get a GED (high school diploma equivalent) in Thailand.

- Once I get that, possibly attend university in Thailand in the future and get a degree.

I know I will have to study well for the GED and I'm fully prepared for that. I did some reading online on various websites and found that it is indeed possible for a foreigner to take a GED in Thailand and then have it verified at the Ministry of Education in order to then be able to attend a university in Thailand. Is that correct?

I hope someone can confirm that what I read is right and let me know if there are any obvious bumps I should expect along the way. Obviously I'm not expecting this to be easy in Thailand, but I'm ready to battle through the paperwork :)

Yes it is possible.

Yes it is in English.

You can study yourself from GED books, or pay (not cheap most places) for tuition at a selection of schools, (eg. Bangkok School of Management but google for more)

You might start by lookin here at a test centre:-

PROMETRIC Testing Center

6 th Floor, Maneeya Center North

518/3 Ploenchit Road, Pathumwan

Bangkok, 10330

(BTS: Chidlom Station; Exit 2)

try www prometric com/ged (not sure if the posting of the actal link is allowed so put the "dots' in yourself.
