Car Pooling

About 10 staff co-members have a songthew (modified pickup) that takes us from near Bangkok Hospital to our office in Koh Kaew, near the Isuzu Showroom, Monday to Saturday.

We leave at 8:40 sharp. The return trip leaves at 6pm, except Saturday when we leave at noon. We have room for a few more people. Cost is about 1,250 baht per month. The more passengers the cheaper the per-passenger fare.

The route is Yaowarat Rd - bypass road - Thepkrasattri Rd.

I would also like to start a thread on the topic of carpooling and even hitchhiking on Phuket as well...what do you think?

Hmm doing that trip by car or motorbike, everday for a month is cheaper than 1250 baht in gas and you dont have to sit your ass on a unconfortable bench made in wood

Great Initiative taking public transport into their own hands! Good luck with this!

How great you can sit back and read a book and don't have to worry to much about being in a traffic accident, especially if you are on a bike.

Yes, we are all completely insane for not wanting to ride a motorbike along the bypass road or Thepkrasattri Road, the most dangerous road in Phuket, in the rainy season.

Btw, you make several false assumptions: 1. that everyone already owns or has access to a vehicle; 2. That the seats are made of wood, which they aren't - they are upholstered.

The price works out to about 25-30 baht per leg. It seems a small price to pay to me.
