Accident Motorcyclist Killed After Ignoring Railway Barrier in Chonburi
I must have used that crossing hundreds of times when I lived there. There is nothing dangerous about it. There is absolutely no chance a bike could "slide" in front of the train. He must have wanted to take a chance or had a few drinks. -

Cambodia Festival Aims to Boost Floating Village Tourism
A vibrant eco-tourism festival launching this weekend in Cambodia’s Kampong Phluk village is set to spotlight the floating community’s culture, natural beauty, and sustainable future, as officials ramp up efforts to revitalise Siem Reap’s green season appeal. Now in its third edition, the Cambodian Freshwater Festival returns on Saturday for a two-day celebration in Prasat Bakong district. Organised by local authorities alongside the Tampaing Sung Russey Foundation—and backed by national tourism and environment ministries—the event is expected to draw a growing number of domestic and international visitors. The festivities will centre around Tonle Sap Lake, with highlights including a giant puppet parade, local product exhibitions, boat races, and educational activities. Traditional performances and a tourism parade will also feature prominently. District Governor So Platong said the event aims to showcase Kampong Phluk’s unique environment, from its flooded forests to its community-based fishing lifestyle. “This is more than a festival—it’s an invitation to discover a different rhythm of life tied to Cambodia’s iconic lake,” he said. Local leaders are hopeful that the festival will boost tourism and help preserve cultural heritage. Commune Chief Sok Ban noted that the event, rooted in long-standing traditions, had been paused for years but is now being revived with renewed energy. Adding a modern touch to this year’s programme, the community will launch the “Clean Cambodia, Khmer Made” campaign, promoting plastic-free tourism under the slogan: “Clean Kampong Phluk, Clean Our Community, Clean Tonle Sap.” Infrastructure is also receiving a lift, with a 15-kilometre road currently under renovation, a project gifted by Prime Minister Hun Manet to support the area's development. With its picturesque waterscapes and eco-conscious focus, Kampong Phluk is poised to become a green-season highlight for travellers seeking authenticity and sustainability—just as the festival sets sail once again. -2025-06-13 -
