Hotels In Bangkok Refuse Blacks And Indians

I think all Africans and Indians should definately boycott Thailand, because that will definately stick it to those places that refuse to serve them.

Power to the people!

I quite like your sarky sense of humour. Kiwi? In England, definitely is spelt with "i" instead of "a" though.

" ... ive never once seen a white male pushing drugs in Sukhumvit or causing trouble in gangs like the West Africans do, theyre the reason why i will never step into this area again in the evening."

It is important to differentiate country of origin with the Blacks. I believe many that come from West Africa are of questionable character, whereas most African Americans and folks of color from Canada

and other Western nations visit (or live and work in) Thailand for the same reasons most whites do.

I am living in the States presently (since last Dec. '09); and, for the last 5 years before departing Thailand I lived in East Pattaya (yeah, on the 'dark' side). I will be travelling to BKK in about a month for business

and some sight seeing. I have read and heard so much about the deterioration of the lower Sukhumvit area, especially after dark. Personally, this saddens me as when I lived in Bangkok (2000 - 2004) we enjoyed lower

Sukhumvit. Is the general recommendation now to avoid this part of BKK altogether or only late at night. Would anyone care to offer guidelines? ... are there any links to discussions on this forum regarding this?

... I don't mean to try to detour the present topic.

I am Black but I only stay at places that have have 6 foot guys dressed in white and gloves opening doors for me and later telling all the nice places to get a rub and tug.

I have also tried all the racist places, and was not rejected or refused entry.

When I go seedy bars, some white fellas just up and leave quickly, when i ask the staff if it was my smell, they tell me , nay mate, you smell alrite, just that I look like a bounty hunter.

Well there are some Japanese bars in Chiang Mai that Farangs or any other races are not Allowed in it is "Japanese ONLY" still is unfair.....and I dont agree

Soi Taniya in Silom is full of Jap bars and non-Japs are not allowed in at all. I used to park my car there while at work and 3 times out of 10 would be told I am not alowed on the soi so should turn around. I used to just carry on walking and point to the carpark. funny thing is when the red shirts came and the Japs ran home the girls had no customers for a couple of months and still never let westerners in.

I used to see the girls go of with a Jap looking happy! jeez, has any of you seen a Jap Porno? Fingers shoved up where the sun dont shine and enimas while tied up dont sound like fun to me.:bah: very strange!

anyway, back on topic, I couldnt give a crap about not being welcome in there bars. but I do think its wrong to openly refuse people because of there race.

Some time back I expressed interest in a certain bar worker and was told that she wouldn't be interested as she was a "Jap specialist." As this was a new concept to me, I asked what was special about Japs. The answer was "Little dix, big money." As I couldn't compete in either department, I didn't feel upset even though it was a case of racial discrimination.

Who cares? A so called "rap artist" (an oxymoron if there ever was one) is refused a room at the inn.

It happens every day, at least it'll give him something to bark about on his next album.

"Who cares? A so called "rap artist" (an oxymoron if there ever was one)", ha, ha, that made me laugh, thanks for that.

And you Yanks should get off your high horse. Weren't you the most recent owners of slaves in the western world?

what kind of comment is that? you're generalizing a group of people, who by the way were immigrants. Slavery is a past shame in the US. I was not alive when slavery was practiced and most people living now were not around at that time either. i don'r know one person who ever owned a slave or who would support slavery.

Hard to believe that the hotel would fess up to policy of bigotry. Why not judge each patron on their own merits before making rash decisions. If we all would be a little more colorblind the world would be a much more pleasant place to dwell in. My sorrow for anyone that is pigeon holed for crap like this. I am more surprised the hotel wasn't black balling the red shirts. They torched Bangkok pretty good. Some peoples kids!

I have never met anyone selling drugs in Thailand because I do not hang out in the areas where that would happen!

It's not a question of "hanging out" in those places. I've been offered drugs -- and yes it happened to be by an African -- walking from the Skytrain station to Bumrungrad Hospital...which just happens to be in a somewhat bad area of Sukhumvit. Gee, shame on me for being sick and having to go to the hospital.

onnnut, you won't find anybody asking you something, because -I guess-nobody is asking you anything here.

I believe drugs are being sold everywhere in Thailand at places like schools, restaurants, discos.

So, you've never been at a place with entertainment, right?

Sometimes hard to understand their mumbling: "anna bay samm cooak?' :jap:

Only problem I see is that hotel should have refunded him his dosh back, but I suspect he will get it back via his credit card. Most thai hotel websites do let you know what countries are banned from their hotels. I've seen this more so in bars/gogos/discos more than anything.

I was walking with a mate into a disco and well he was a few steps ahead of me. They would not let him in. I walked in and they shook my hand/bowed. They let him in after I vouched for him and he is Iranian. We laughed about it, but bottom line is he understands. Few bad apples have made life difficult for those who are actually good lads. He shrugs it off and doesnt worry about it too much.

Alas we now have much the same situation in certain parts of London and other English cities where white folk are considered foolhardy to venture in the evenings for fear of mugging attacks by black youths!

Wake up:

The Arab or Middle Eastern slave trade continued into the early 20th century,[116] and by some accounts continues to this day. Slavery in Morocco was outlawed in the 1930s.[117] As recently as the 1950s, Saudi Arabia had an estimated 450,000 slaves, 20% of the population.[118][119] It is estimated that as many as 200,000 black south Sudanese children and women (mostly from the Dinka tribe sold by the Sudanese Arabs of the north) have been taken into slavery in Sudan during the Second Sudanese Civil War.[120][121] In Mauritania it is estimated that up to 600,000 men, women and children, or 20% of the population, are currently enslaved, many of them used as bonded labor.[122] Slavery in Mauritania was criminalized in August 2007.[123]

I said Western world.

Well ,it's so easy to copy and paste something of Wikipedia without even reading it.....:jap:

Oh, I just love all the holier than thou, politically correct posts from the Enlightened Ones who cannot distinguish the facts even if they kicked them in the head. I have witnessed the rudest behavior from African tourists towards anyone they feel like it. I have witnessed their street brawls in Patpong. I have witnessed them being rudely aggressive towards Thai women; hookers and "regular" ladies alike. It has nothing to do with their skin color; it has everything to do with their behavior. Take a stroll along Sukhumvit Soi 3 area around dark, they are there in droves pushing dope. When they are able to conduct themselves in a reasonably civil manner, great, welcome to them. Until then, let them hang out in their homelands and savage each other. As for this American black rapper, I'd refuse him lodging for the mere fact I am sick and tired of listening to cop killing "bi_tch" raping "music".

I am all for against global warming and the use of condoms. Make a rap song for me but feature Rihanna in it.

Why would a tourist be hanging around that area?

He should make a good song about it.

Many black people are good people, Indians have a rich culture. White people are great, Thai people are nice.

One Love.

I fail to see how this is a problem.

Many bars do not let them in either, because we don't want to drink with them.

I said to a bargirl once, 'Why do you keep the blacks out?' and she said 'Because if Farang see African man, he not come in'.

I said 'Yep, you're right'.

All they do is try and sell me cocaine, and try to 'look after me' on Sukhumvit. It gets quite tiring.

Thanks for your post which reminds us that racism is as widespread amongst Westerners as it is amongst Thais.

One night for a laugh as I was walking around the Nana - Asok area, I decided to simply approach every black I saw and ask for cocaine or weed. Every single one was able to give me info, prices, tell me where to go.

The only reason Africans are there is to commit crime. I'm not speaking from prejudice, I am speaking from experience.

Ummmm, listen to yourself would you? How about I say "all Thai girls are prostitutes". They're not you say? Oh well I was walking down Nana/Asok one day and every Thai girl I met was either able to sell me sex or tell me someone who could. You get my point?

Nana is a seedy dump. If drug dealers are going to be anywhere, they are going to be in Nana. Maybe you should try hanging out in nicer places and you may meet a better example of a black man. Or actually don't, then I won't bump in to you....

My comment extends to all rap music that denigrates people, be they women, police officers, etc. Kindly take your ultra-political correctness and deposit it you know where. Quite franky sir, those of you who preach political correctness are among the most narrow-minded, unenlightened, racists I have ever known.

One of my early jobs while in college was as a doorman in an upscale restaurant/discotheque in Silicon Valley back in the early 80's. Place was a real hot spot replete with 3 hour waits to get in on most nights of the week. Until the blacks decided to join in the fun. Drug problems rose dramatically, waitresses and bartenders noted their tips dropped significantly, and overall business took a nose dive and the place eventually closed. Just a fact from someone with a direct, bird's eye view.

This is a great example of the kind of post we can expect so much more of in the future, thanks to the dumbing down rep plaything. Aren't people capable of dealing with the specific content of a specific post rather than resorting to dissing people based on a faceless number? It's apt to the topic of racism though. React negatively to a black person just because he is black is similarly stupid to reacting to a poster negatively just because he has lots of red love marks. Deal with people and posts as they are, individually, based on real merit, not knee jerks. Lecture over.

Sometimes I wonder where I am living.

Well, indeed a weird city. Guess they might think all Blacks are from Nigeria and doing drugs.

But something very ridiculous happened about in Bangkok about five years ago. I had to see my embassy and had to stay overnight together with my wife and our son.

When we wanted to check in a guesthouse at the Khao San Road, the clerk said that this place wouldn't be available for Thais!!!

After telling him that we were a married couple he pointed on a sign saying:

"No Thais in our rooms allowed." I had no camera to make a photo, but I was asking him what he was doing in there if it wasn't for Thais.

Just think about English people wouldn't get a hotel room in London…….

I've had this with a Thai friend. And yes, it is shameful a Thai hotelier bars fellow Thais. However, you can kind of understand it when they pack themselves twenty to a room to save on costs (and they're not all poor, the average Thai visiting Khao Saen is middle class, not some hick from the sticks), or take some screaming tart :annoyed:back for the night in a neighbourhood predominantly aimed at 'farang' backpackers/travellers, not sex tourists/mongers.
