Hi,

I am an Indian national and will arrive at BKK international airport. I will stay in Bangkok for 3 days, go to Cambodia (Siem Reap via Aranyaprathet/Poipet) for 3 days, before heading back to Bangkok (via the same route). I understand that I can get a 'Visa on Arrival' at BKK airport when I land. Will this same visa be valid for re-entry when I return from Cambodia? If not, what would be the best option for me?

thanks!!

Please read here on the website of Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the visa on arrival:

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2491

This visa is not available at all land border entry points. I do not see Aranyaprathet listed.

Each visa on arrival is valid only for one entry and you will receive permission to stay for 15 days. For example, if you arrive on 01 NOV, you receive permission to stay until 15 NOV. Before leaving for Cambodia you can get a single-entry re-entry permit from any immigration office (fee 1,900 Baht) to keep this permission to stay alive for your return from Cambodia six days later, eg in this example on 07 NOV. This means that on your arrival in Thailand from Cambodia you will again receive permission to stay until 15 NOV.

You fail to say how long your second entry into Thailand will be or when travel is planned. Not knowing that the best choice would likely be a two entry tourist visa prior to travel if it fits your timing.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the helpful replies, and I apologize if I left some information out. Here are the details that you have asked for:

1. My total time in Thailand from arrival at BKK to departure will not be more than 8 days,i.e. I will be in Thailand for 3 days, then Siem Reap 3 days, and back to Bangkok to catch my flight home.

2. I will be going around Dec. 19th, 2010.

My questions:

- If I get a visa on arrival the first time I am at BKK airport, can I get a re-entry permit at the airport itself?

- I looked at the Thai embassy website, but couldn't find a section for multiple entry visas. It only had a section for single entry visa. If this option is available, I'd like to do it, since I then don't have to worry about it. Also, it says that there is no visa fee (special tourist promotion?)…..since I have plenty of time, would this be best (if there is a multiple entry visa option)?

many thanks!

Get the free tourist visa and then obtain re-entry permit at Chiang Watanna Immigration in Bangkok prior to travel onward. Airport does not provide normal re-entry permit service anymore.

Just make sure the 3 days in Bangkok are not all holidays as immigration is closed on weekends and holidays.

Thanks for the reply, lopburi3 (and everyone else).

I"ll be sure to apply for it on the first day (Monday). Hopefully, I should get it back the same day.
