I know they have to go through HK now, but can I go to UK embassy on Wireless with cash, and pay the fee + courier fee there?

if so, does anyone know the exact fee in baht (inc courier) ?

would i be right in saying i would need to bring,

a) current passport

B) photocopy of passport info page and copy of current thai visa

c) completed C1 application form

d) 2x Passport photos

e) all relevant fees

sorry if this has been gone over before, but i cant find links and have to move quickly.

cheers in advance for any help

I very much doubt that the UK embassy/consulate will arrange the courier for you.

I suggest you go to a DHL office which has set up a set of guidelines for UK passport holders to renew their passpoerts. Last time I was in the Silom office the list of steps required was prominantly displayed on the counter.

Hi , I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago , no problems :)

32 page passport = 6,400 Baht

DHL ( courier cost to send new passport back to my house from HK ) = 962 Baht

Total = 7, 362 Baht

I paid cash, and on the receipt there's a DHL tracking number, I tracked my passport from BKK to HK and back to my house

it took just over a week

one point to watch , the photos have to meet rules spot on , Two people in front of me were turned away for not having the correct photos

if you look here ... Passport Photo Requirements

and look for this down the page ..... Download detailed information on passport photos (PDF, 292K)

it will show you the exact requirements and examples .

you don't have to send your current passport with the application , just a photocopy of the info page , make sure you get a receipt for the cash you paid as you may need it if you have to transfer any visa to the new passport , the immigration may ask to see the paid receipt from the British Embassy .

I took with me a ready filled out DHL envelope that had my home address '' AND '' home telephone number on it , as DHL will want to call you to verify your home address and arrange a time to call .

The passport officer said it was not necessary to bring a DHL envelope as they all ready keep them there at the Embassy , but if there's a DHL office near you I would get one and fill it out ready .

I got a new passport just a few weeks ago from the embassy. It was the last day that they would send it to Hong kong and have DHL deliver it back to them for collection at the embassy.

The thing I don't like about sending it to Hong Kong is that you have to enclose a copy of your passport, the application form, and details of your credit card to make payment, all in the same envelope. It is ripe for Identity theft and fraud.

I haven't heard of this happening yet so hopefully DHL are doing a good job.

Also, remember that as soon as your passport arrives in the processing centre in Hong Kong they will electronically cancel your old passport so you cannot travel anywhere until your new one comes back. It is then your responsibilty to physically cancel the old passport by cutting the corners off the front and back pages.

Thankyou kindly sir.jap.gif

Just to be 100%, you paid the 7362bt to British Embassy (Consular section?) - not the DHL office?

Also, i'm guessing the photos (2 right?) dont need to be certified if handed in at embassy directly?

Re-read my post. I wrote "I got a new passport just a few weeks ago from the embassy. It was the last day that they would send it to Hong kong and have DHL deliver it back to them for collection at the embassy."

You can only do it through the mebassy now if it is a lost or damaged passport.

Sent mine off via DHL at Emporium - a very efficient service - on 16 September. Still waiting for the new passport. I have to do my 90 day report on 15 October, so presumably if I still don't have my new passport, I can still use the old one?

Yes. But you don't send the old passport, just a photocopy of the details page. You can download a credit card form to pay.

What about if it's a special case, such as a second UK passport? 3 months ago I renewed mine at UK embassy and unless the clerk there had told me I would not have know what additional documents were needed to go in the DHL envelope?

Posted

....er right so

1: If i send direct from DHL soi 12 does someone have to sign the pictures?

2: Have to pay cash - How do i do that?

Hi , the reason I went to the British Embassy was that I don't have a Credit card to pay for the passport

so I paid there in Cash .

have a look here ....⬇

Payment Details Etc
