Anyone Know The Name Of A Road At Mabprachan?.

I'm trying to find out the name of the road that starts at the Siam Country Club golf course turn off, (next to the new 7/11), runs around Lake Mabprachan, past Khun John's, Mulligans, etc, and eventually joins up with the 3240 in Pong that runs down to Naklua.

The first part of the road around the Lake is a continuation of Siam Country Club road, but this road ends at the entrance to the golf course.

I found a map last week in a real estate magazine that had a name for the road in English - the first time I have seen the road marked with a name, but unfortunately the map was lost when I moved recently.

Some locals say the road is 'something/Mabprachan', but I am trying to find out for sure, as I want to have the correct address.

Every single map I have looked at on line has no name marked for this road.

So - does anyone know or is it going to be one of life's everlasting mysteries?

Hi Mobi,

Have a look at the website of the Magnolias. I can't read Thai but the english translation says Mabprachan reservoir so in Thai it should be Ang Kep Naam Mabprachan

Hope to have helped

Yermanee

Thanks, but that is the name of the reservoir, not the road. I already knew that.

The road has the word Mabprachan in it, but there is another thai word as well - I think!!

BTW Mabprachan is the name of the local area - there is also a Wat Mabprachan.

Google Earth is no help.

It gives the road name as Phon Prapha Nimit up to the junction and then Phon Prapha from the junction up to Siam Country Club and no name for the road or any sois off it around the lake.

Could just be continued as Phon Prapha Nimit?

Edit:The other side of the lake where the road goes into Naklua is called Chai Yaporn Withi and is the 3240 road.

Sorry, I have just looked at teh Magnolias address, which is near my new home.

They have used the name of the reservoir as part of their address, so I now see what you mean.I could certainly use their version of the address as a default if I fail to find the name of the road.

I pretty convinced that the road does have a name. The locals use it and I saw it on a map of the area. So I'll keep searching for a day or two.

Or you could ask the postman, he should know (maybe).

BTW I'm in the same area.

Get someone with GPS to drive there, it "should" come up on the screen?

Bet it doesn't. It's not on any map either hard copy or on line that I have been able track down, or on Google Earth or anything.

Still, I could be wrong....

Many of the roads in the rural areas of Pattaya do not have names, but this might help:

I needed to make a map on how to get to my residence in Huai Yai because it is very hard to find and the roads don't have clearly idententifed names. When I asked local residents, they didn't seem to know or weren't consistent with their replies. One of the reasons I needed the map was to show the post office where I lived, in order to receive mail deliveries.

A Thai address doesn't mean crap as to where a building is located. That's why you always have to make a map for deliveries or for utility company service.

I went to the Tesaban (city hall) for Huai Yai and talked to the people in the planning department. I got a copy of the map for the area. I also got them to label the names of the roads around the area in Thai. The interesting thing (when I had the names translated to English) is that they were labeled with starting and ending points of the road or used some other land mark on the road.

For instance, the road going by my residence was called "Soi Na Klong Nam Men" roughly translated "soi next to stinking creek". Another road that intersects my road was labeled "Soi laungahn plastic" or "Soi plastic factory". The major road which intersects both of these roads was labeled "Tannon Chak Ngaew bye Ban Nok" or "road from Chak Ngaew (a mooban) to Ban Nok (another mooban)".

I know of several prominent Sois in Pattaya that are still referenced this way: Soi Dianna (next to Dianna Inn on 2nd road), Soi VC (next to VC Hotel on Pratamnak Road), and Soi Country Club (which goes to Siam Country Club). Just to name a few.

You might go to the Tesaban (city hall) that serves your area and check. You might find out that it really doesn't have a name.

Good luck!

Thank you for all that. I would like to know the name of the road but am not desperate enough to go to all the trouble that you did.

I am aware that many rural roads don't have names and actually thought this road didn't have one until I saw it on the now missing real estate agent map (I suppose they might have made it up), and was also told so by several locals who seemed to know what they were talking about.

As far as the post is concerned, I have the house number, moo number, tambon name and amphur name so no problem for the postman. There is even a name for the Moobahn and I could even include the name of the reservoir, so I'm actually spoilt for address details.

I'd just like to know the name of the road I am living off - but not enough to go to the Tessabahn and make enquiries.

BTW when I first came to Pattaya six years ago, most people referred to Soi Nern Plub Wan as "Soi Muslim", for obvious reasons. These days that epithet has almost died out, but strangely, I still hear the odd Thai refer to it as Soi Muslim, but few, if any, farangs still do.

But Siam Country Club Rd. and Soi Muslim are slang names, not the official road names.

Correct, Soi Kao Noi is Soi Bunsampan and Soi Siam Country Cliub Road is Soi Pomprapanimit.

It's actually the 4/6 Moo 9 that fixes the location of the plot of land so your postman should find it even without a road name.

Yes, I've already stated that I have more than adequate address information for my postman.

I just want to know the name of the road.

My 2 cents is that this is the continuation of the Chayaporn Withi Road. But as one poster mentioned, not all roads in Thailand actually have recognized names or nick names.

I don't think so.

Chayaporn Withi starts at Sukhumvit road in Naklua and runs right up to the start of the lake and then it does a sharp left turn and runs through Pong Village, past Wat Pong and the market and ends at the junction with route 36, the Bangkok/Rayong highway. It also has a road number: 3240 and it's location and direction is clearly delineated on most maps.

The road with the missing name starts where Chaiporn Withi does a sharp left, runs over a bridge and meanders right around the reservoir, passing Mulligans. Khun Johns, Fishermans, Magnolias, Sammy's,etc., to it's conclusion at the turn off to Siam Country Club golf course. :)

This is becoming a major quest. Maybe I will go down to the Tessabahn and enquire after all.
