Landslides In Phuket

Featured Replies

I surprised to read about landslides in Phuket. Wherever I look, the hills seem to be completely covered with trees and all manner of vegetation. I would have thought that would prevent landslides from occurring. Yet I read this morning that the 'link removed' went down last night due to a landslip toppling a tree which subsequently cannoned into a power pole.

Presumably that's why they don't place power cables underground.

This usually happens around construction sites where the land has been stripped of all vegetation, it's a regular occurrence that almost took my home away three years ago, owners clear the land and then wait for the dry season to begin construction, mother nature intervenes and all is delayed, for some lives it's a permanent delay.

Check out the Apartment hanging by a thread a little ways up 50 Pee Road off of south end of Nanai Rd. I used to stay there-not anymore.
