The Migrants Are Here.

Featured Replies

Saw the first Chinese Pond Heron of the year in my garden today.

Had lots of Drongos a couple of weeks ago, but, they have disappeared.

Haven't seen any Bee-eaters yet, or any Forest Wagtails.

Seen any migrants lately?

No Magpie Robins or Bul Buls around either

Too much rain or what?

Both of them are natives. Seen lots of both.

The Oriental Magpie Robins are most active at dawn and dusk, whereas trhe Yellow Vented Bul-buls are usually present throught the day.

What's the beautiful blue colored bird with the long beak called? Kingfisher? I have one that comes daily just before sunset. For some reason he likes my daughters slide/swing set and sits right on top.

I think that the blue coloured bird is an Indian Roller. I get lots up in the NE of the island. It has an interesting call.

I have seen bee-eaters recently, but I thought that they were native to Samui. :whistling:

Haven't seen a Drongo for years.... since I was a kid in Africa... would love to see one again

It could be an Indian Roller, or a White Throated Kingfisher
