Thanks. I put the pirelli sport demons on as I know a few people with D-Trackers who said that, although they were OK in the dry, they were very slippery in the wet and as it's almost the rainy season up here in the north....

I've not really pushed the bike in any corners yet so can't really comment but the bike is very smooth and comfortable which is probably helped slightly by the softer pirellis. I'm having 3cm added to the seat this afternoon and sat at home waiting for the exhaust, it was sent yesterday by EMS and is a carbon version of this one, nice sound https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=205591762800534&oid=132479710123460&comments

I have a mesh shift jacket with great airflow, now after some mesh pants but I need about a 36inch leg so difficult to find :(

i got used to wearing shorts and tshirt on my scooter. but it´s not so much a good idea after all. with my honda i do take a more active part in traffic and going back to propper attire should be the thing to do... maybe i´ll find some mesh pants too or it will be very hard to get myself to actually wearing them. do you know these ridiculous sauna suits for weightloss - it can´t be something alike :)

the exhaust sounds great on low rpm already. too bad he doesn´t really go on high rpm - i wonder how it sounds from 6000 on. do they mention a performance increase?

as yet, i´m quite happy with the seat. after a couple of hours i´ve always been happy for a little break with any bike i´ve had so far :)

HI

i think i win and they loose ,APS HONDA SUKHOTHAI TODAY CBR250R ABS 150000thb.

so to my next post.?:clap2:

can anybody better this, i mean higher the w-n-ers?:cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

I can equal that with my regular dealer in Bangkok. They want 130k for standard and 150k for ABS.

But now, I officially don't care. I got fed up of the long wait of unknown duration, price increases and got paid more than expected for my last job. I put 10k down on a Ninja 650R today rolleyes.gif

Got to say I'm jealous but right now that would add 2,000bht a month to my fuel bill to say nothing of the payments... grrrr.... pay rise please!

You would have to put your name on the waiting list, but we are still selling the ABS model for 130,000 and the non ABS for 120,000.

It would be nice to hear from a dealer why they are charging a premium over the msrp that Honda set? Isn't the msrp 100k and 115k? I can understand a few thousand extra, I just paid 120k for an ABS bike, but 20k+++ is a tad greedy wouldn't you say?

This was answered a few pages back. Simple answer is because they can. Honda only give a recommended price and do not set the price at a fixed amount.

I had quoted these prices a few pages back. I just wanted to let people know that our prices were still the same. The reason these bikes are selling above Honda's suggested price is because there is a very high demand and an even lower supply. Like I said before, when the supply increases, the prices will come down. I'd say we are offering reasonable prices considering the demand.

At any rate you've got your bike now, and having a blast no doubt. What do you think of it?

Had the carbon exhaust from praram2bikes put on today, looks and sounds sweet! Had a quick 150km jaunt in the mountains afterwards and the 350baht seat customisation means it's now even more comfortable and with an extra 3cm it gives me a tad more legroom too.

IT´S ALL ABOUT THE OIL

i understand honda leaves 300 ml of oil in the engine as a sump when you do an oil change.

total oil vol = 1900 cl

oil change = 1400 cl

filter change = 200 cl

so if i go for an oil and filter change, they will pore 1600 cl of new oil and let it mix with the residual oil?

i don´t know - but that sounds strange to me.

if i wanted to change for synthetic oil - would i have to strip the engine then?

if i want to read the oil level on the little window correctly - is my bike then vertical or on the side stand?

please enlighten me :jap:

cheers

If you want to read it correctly - it has to be vertical !!!

If they make an oilchange they let all oil drain off for a few minutes. There is always a little bit left in the engine,

what sticks at all moving parts. So dont worry, even if you change to synthetic oil, just tell them to drain off alittle bit

longer......

always remove the entire old oil. to remove it entirely, just tell them to use air pump/compressor to pump compressed air from the oil hole. you will be amazed how much more coming from the bottom - and the dirtiest part of the oil - . do it for a minute and that is it, it is relatively all drained.

I do not recommend the usage of full synthetic oil during the first 2000 - 3000km/break in. after that full synthetic should be fine.

And the most important part regarding the oil change is; never leave the bike alone while they are changing the oil. Always watch them or at least pretend to be watching them.

Be sure man, i had bad experiences about it..

Even with an air compressor you'll never drain all of the old oil and mixing new oil with a bit of old oil doesn't cause any harm.

As far as watching them work on your bike...

Why not go to a competent shop where you can trust the service staff to do the job properly...

Or do it yourself...

Speaking of this, has anyone tried Sumet for servicing etc.... I know we had a few comments regarding the shop, but to me this means nothing in comparison to the workmanship.

Yes. Did my 6000km service them. Very happy with the service, and is a breath of fresh air dealing with western (and westernized) English speakers who believe in western standards, duty, and competence. The Westernized Thai owner was virtually fuming contempt at the way some of the other Honda dealers were treating customers (refusing to take the platinum package vouchers cause the bike wasn't bought from them). I cannot imagine their mechanics get away with eating somtam and smoking a cig while tending to a customer's machine. :D

It's a great addition to the Bangkok bike experience having a western owned and managed Honda dealership. And makes running a bike here so much easier.

I like to do a double change. I do one oil change and then ride a few kilometers and do it again. That way you have a higher percentage of new oil.

But I do the changes myself.

thank you very much guys for the enlightenment. i think i´ll try to make them blow some air through and i´ll have to check how much they put in too.

if i don´t go to honda for the oil change - wont i loose my warranty?

the oil gauge gives me empty on the side stand and full in vertical position. but how full is full? will 1400 cl also read as full although it should be 1600 cl with the filter? cheers

Check the oil level after you have run the engine a little while(but not while it is still running). If it says full in the glass, it is full.

Honda needs to change your oil so they can write it in your book, but they won't know if you do an extra one yourself.

Camera mounting on the CBR

Went to GPS4U at Fortune Town (Ratchadapisek) and they were great.

One of the guys there, Khong, does a lot of work with bikes and runs a super4.

He sorted me out with a RAM motorcycle mount fork stem base (RAM-B-342U)

All up 1,600b but bloody great!

Now you can film all your rides!

1000 km oil change adventure at mythion pattaya....

1400 cl = 2 cans of oil is what they are used to putting into a bike. that´s not enough. you seriously have to lean the bike to the side to get a reding on the gauge at all. in the upright position, it`s beyond minimum.

as i mentioned the level to be beyond min, i got that stupid falang look first and i was reassured this was all good. as i didn´t agree, they told me after letting the engine run, it would show more. ok i`m open for miracles. with a (then) wet filter i assume, it will show even less after. guess what.... the miracle just didn´t happen...

so i asked for 200 cl of more oil as honda does suggest whilst changing the filter. to my surprise i got that sure no as a reply, which is not heard so often here in los. then say said that i would also loose my guarantee if i put more in and they would also not stamp my service book then. that made me ask for the mecanic who has had the course for this bike, but nobody knew him. the other mecanic i asked to check the (non existant) reading on the gauge told me to have an eye problem...

so i ended up threatning them, that i would call ap honda myself, to ask them to thell these specialists how to propperly sevice my bike. that solved the problem and i got my 200 cl extra and my service stamp in my book.

thank you guys for telling everybody to just keep an eye on things.... if i hadn´t followed the forum, i would have never known :)

Overkill. Really it is. All bikes, cars etc always have residual oil in the sump, lingering on parts etc. Never have I heard of anyone forcing air into the engine to remove oil. Really it's not neccessary. I never do it on my car and I have a high performance retuned car, nor do anyone I know with similar cars go to the trouble.

Let it drain, use good oil in the first place and any residual will have a small effect on the new oil you put in, it's just not worth worrying about.

Regular changes also work much better to. Ie changing the oil in between the manufacturers recommendations, as they are often to long for a performance engine. But again it depends on the quality of the oil.

J1V... Big Biker shop on the left between the moat and airport mall can order them for you. Lot's of riders switching over to the new IRC though as it is stickier than the Sporty and doesn't puncture as easily.

I changed the oil on my 150 at just under 1,000 k. Drove around C.M. for a while, then did a HARD ride from C.M. to Chom Phae (near Khon Kaen) and back, running 110-115 most of the way in the flats, with some spurts of 120kph. And pushed it hard in the mountains. When I got home I was at 3,440k, so had it changed again. Along with fixing the chain.
