Where can I buy good quality running shoes in Bangkok? I have some foot issues so I really need to buy good shoes, not just standard crappy shoes.

Thank you BambinA,

I'm really looking for something a bit more specific. I realized there are dozens of shoe stores here. I'm wondering if there is a specific store that some serious runners have had good experiences at, i.e. knowledgable sales people (I know that's a stretch), reasonable prices, good selections of quality shoes.

All I can say is good luck - I bought a pair of running shoes in the Emporium last year, but when I asked the staff about the differences between the two pairs I was interested in, they could list price, brand and colour - that was all.....

I picked the pair that looked the most like my old trainers (sentimental, I guess!), they are great, but no thanks to the sales staff!

Yeah, that seems to be the standard level of support here. I'm hoping somebody has had some success with some store, probably sh*t out of luck tho.

I found if you want to get larger sizes (10 and up) you will have to either spend alot of cash, or, strangely, go up north. No troble finding larger sizes in Chiang Mai for some reason.

There's a specialist Nike shop with a large selection across the road from the Emporium. It's called Sport Revolution.

Suggest check out http://www.nike.com and get an idea of the type of shoe you want before heading out to the stores. You'll get more info online than from sales assistants. Good luck getting the right size.

On Nut Lotus has an Adidas shop next to it. A guy working there explained to me which runners were for hard surface, for gravel, sand, grass...that picking wrong shoes may land me into a wheelchair (stuff up my knees) but he must had been a rarity.

I guess you can find that info on the manufacturers' web site, I doubt many sales assistants would know the difference. Then you'll need some luck to find the exact type of shoes but you don't have to relie on assistants' knowledge of the product.

Ps. I did some checking on good running shoes and you can expect to pay the same price as you would in your home country........

If not more. I have yet to find a top of the line pair of running shoes that I can not get for less in the US.

Edit: sp

Try going out Soi 71 to Rhamkahnheng University area. The FBT Sports center is a 9 story building devoted all to sports. One floor for tennis, another for soccer, another for gym equipment.

www.fbtsports.com

I got a pair of size 13 tennis shoes for only 800B. I need a large size so I can add Dr Sholes padding for my Plantar fasciatis.

I have purchased tennis racquets there too. Highly recommend.
