Just wondering how many diagnosed GLUTEN INTOLERANTS- R out there? This means that your digestive system cannot cope with the protein in any wheat product and stores it as poison... thus resulting in a multitude of health problems.

How do you cope? What do you eat?

I must say eating in the west is a whole lot healthier for me ... cos at least I can read the labels... but... I LIVE IN THAILAND ... any suggestions MOST graciously accepted and revered!!!

rice noodle, rice, sticky rice (there is no gluten in it) vegetables, meat, eat home cooking

seems to be easier than in the west that uses gluten in everything and cooks primarily with wheat flours

celiac disease??

My ex-girlfriend was gluten intolerant. Watch out for non obvious things like soy sauce in cooking, processed meats and pasta. Only thing she found difficult was no bread. Those horrible rice cracker things instead. :o For some reason she used to feel much better after eating a big bar of chocolate.

Looks like we have the same problem. after having looked in to it, It would seem that most things that contain soya sauce are a big no no, avoid yellow noodles and anything that will contain thick sauces, ( normally they use flour ). rice noodles instead. Also banannas are no good as contain a protien similar to gluten ( apparently ). let me know how you get on as ive just found out that i need a similar diet so any help would be apppreciated.

good luck. ive heard carreflour in patong stock some gluten free products but i dont know if this is gospel or not.

Hello there,

The best advice that I can give after living GF in Bangkok for five years is to buy an oven. The only real thing that I miss is real sour dough bread, rye bread etc, cereal etc. I bake my own gluten free bread from a vast choice of non wheat blends. It takes some time to get the ingredients together, but after you source them and buy them you will be able to make some good tasting bread, rolls.

The rest is common sense, chicken, meat, veggies, rice, eggs, fruit, fish.

A huge help to me was going to google alerts and setting up a alert for gluten free. I get hundreds of GF recipes a week. It's really not that hard to get by. If you follow the GF diet and cut out wheat products you will feel MUCH better.
