Small Green Turtles

Featured Replies

I recently bought 3 small green turtles and put them in a tank with a reasonable amount of water for swimming. However, they just stay in one place on the dry area all the time. I know they must go in the water sometime, as the food disappears, but they are as entertaining as a rock, at present.

Is this normal, or should I be doing something I'm not aware of?

I have checked on the internet, but there is no information relevant to the above that I can find, other than they do spend a lot of time basking.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hey, don't knock rocks (yes I had a pet rock).

There's loads of stuff on the net about how to care for turtles, maybe yours just don't like the water quality.

We've got turtles in a pond, they do indeed seems to spend all day toasting themselves on a rock, but when food is on offer they come to life.

Thanks for the reply.

However, have had some developments since I posted. One turtle never moved and may have been sick- died anyway. Of the 2 survivors, one became quite active after about 2 weeks, and spends a lot of time swimming, the other swims occasionally.

PS- I did check the net, but no one else seemed to have my problem.
