Rechargeable 1.5V Batteries Help

My camera uses 1.5v AA batteries. I want to get rechargeable ones but all I can find in Pattaya are 1.2v. They also show mAh sizes, I haven't got a clue what mAh is anyway. Can get any amount of 1.5v unrechargeable ones.

Would be obliged for some advice please.

Keeping it simple. mAh is milli Amp/hours, and is how your battery is rated for power. An AAA battery that is rated at 900 mAh will only go half as long as a AAA battery rated at 1800 mAh.

One mAh is 1000th of one Amp. So it is very small current. Look at the rating on your lamp or device to see how long it will last. Using a AAA battery that is rated at 900 mAh to power a 1.5V LED @ 10watts means it glows for 6.667 hours. The 1800 mAh battery powering an 1.5V LED @ 10 watts will last 13.33 hours.

You may need an original battery to replace your old one as some 1.5V electronics just won't run with 1.2 V batteries. :annoyed:

Thanks BSJ, very helpful. Have now asked Fuji if my camera will work efficiently with rechargeable 1.2v batteries. Most probably the answer will be no, but will be interesting to hear from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Have you had a look in the electronics place in the basement of Tuk Com?

Thanks RabC, Yes I did try them but no joy. Not surprising, because as I've just discovered through the kind repliers on here, 1.5v rechargeables are not made. Thanks anyway.

There is no such thing as rechargable 1.5 Volt batteries. Rechargable batteries are all 1.2 Volt, which is sufficient to work as replacement for 1.5 Volt Alkaline batteries. May I recommend "Sanyo eneloop" batteries, which is delivered fully charged and ready to use. Furthermore they keep the power for years without charging (if not used), and will last for 1500 charges. Can be found all over Thailand for the cost of 500-600 Baht for 4 pcs.

Thanks very much Xonax. Do I have to use a dedicated charger?

Thanks all for your well-intentioned input. I have at last received a reply from Fuji Thailand telling me it will be safe to use AA 1.2v batteries in my FinePix s7000 and s8000fd cameras. So in future I'll be using rechargeable AA 1.2v Ni-MH 2500 mAh batteries.

Thanks again for your interest.
