Hi.

I need some background info on Boots and none of the staff know much about this so maybe some of you guys can help me pinpoint this?

1. When did the first Boots open on Samui (informed guess is around 2003?)

2. Which was the first one (Chaweng for sure?)

3. How many branches are there here now (is there one in Tescos or in Lamai/Nathon?)

4. How do product prices compare with the West (I've not been out of Thailand for 13 years so don't have a clue about this one!)

5. Is there anything unusual that Boots sells here that you don't see in the West? (apart from stuff to make you whiter instead of browner!) :jap:

Apart from the razors being more expensive and decent toothpaste unavailable its fairly similar from what I can see.

No they don't sell mushrooms either......found that out a few years ago.(I was drunk at the time and forgot my prescription so....)

I've been trying to find a way to contact Boots but their 2009 Thai website doesn't even list Samui at all. Maybe I'll just phone BKK and talk my way to something ...

AHA! Nathon Tesco came before Lamai Tesco ... Lamai Tesco is quite recent, in fact. Does it have a Boots? If so there's the #5. (numbering logic aside ...)

See pages 2 and 3 in the list of Boots' South branches, and you can contact Thai head office here. Unfortunately, I found no map with location of Samui Boots outlets. But you can try to phone and ask about directions, they might be able to answer in English.
