Food, Books Etc. From Myanmar

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a shop in Bangkok that I can buy foodstuff or magazines (if they exist) or books from Myanmar?

I want to put together a gift for our nanny that I can give her when my kids are opening their christmas presents. The nanny's about 30 years old.

In the past there was an internet cafe down Patpong that had a Burmese girl working there. She got me dried food and an English/Burmese dictionary. Unfortunately that shop is now closed.

Any ideas?

If you walk up Pan Road from Silom Road, where the Indian Temple sits on the corner (towards the Burmese embassy), you will pass a shop on the left which sells some Burmese products. Not sure about books and other food stuffs, but I used to buy small packets lapek or Burmese pickled tea with nuts. Only about 15 baht a packet. I luv the stuff with beer, but makes you fat so quickly!
