I maybe need to take care of two my husbands grandchilren from UK aged 1 & 3 years for some years. He has been here 7 years already on marriage non 'O' Will they need a visa, I hear that if under 14 years they can stay long term.

Children do need their own visa. What you referring to is that if they are under 15 they will not be fined for any overstay.

Since they are in the UK I would advise getting a non-O visa from the consulate in Hull for them to start with. That way they can travel to Thailand without proof of exiting the country.

After that it will be more complicated to let them stay in Thailand legally, but as said there is no overstay fine for them till they reach 15.

When they are old enough to go to school, they can get a permission to stay in Thailand based on education.

Do get a letter from the parents giving you the right to take them to Thailand and to take care of them and make decisions for them, such as if medical treatment is necessary.
