People keep posting, Thailand expensive, but I'm not seeing it!
Sounds like you are mostly talking about western food, but it is a fact that prices for local products/food has increased significantly considering quality and environment which hasn't exactly improved. -

Report Thailand to Require Medical Certificates for Cannabis Use Within 40 Days
Yeah, at worst it'll merely be another hoop to jump through and another bit of money to hand over for the cert. It's a bit interesting that since it has become so prolific and according to some here, there are "addicts" all aboot, there oddly hasn't been an increase in crimes (especially violent crimes), nor any measurable impact on the wonderful 'live and let live' society that we all enjoy. -

Transport Bangkok Cabbies Call for Grab Service Ban at Suvarnabhumi Airport
About time the Government grew a pair and stood up to these thugs and thieves. They don't own the Airport or have any right to keep others out. In January had a cabbie "try it on" with me. Usual meter broken scam with a 3000 baht fare from Suhkuhmvit to the Airport. I started yelling POLICE and he soon took my offer of 300 Baht. Stupid <deleted> would have got my usual 1000 baht tip if he hadn't of tried to rip me off. -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
They responded pretty much 5 minutes after I supplied the docs from the second round. They requested my US visa again so I wrote "No visa sticker for Canadian citizens" on the paper along with my stamp. The bank statements were also requested again. This time it said 3 months so I'll supply that. I really hope this doesn't take another month to process. -

Revenue Department to amend tax on foreign income remittance
This leads to interesting questions. Let's say you have 100 abroad which is 70 savings and 30 income. You missed the 2 year deadline. So you now put it into the stock market and sell it at 110. If you now transfer the 110 to Thailand immediately, i.e. within 2 years of earning it, what happens? It is all tax free because within 2 years, only the 10 are tax free because only these were gained in the last two years, it is 10+70 (old savings) because old savings are never taxed, but seen as capital, or what is it? And of course excluding gifts and inheritance all savings are really former income of some previous time anyway. -
