Soutpeel
Are you joking? The price of most meds in Thailand is so cheap to begin with. Yeap....5 days would be about THB 125/ maybe the OP should post his list on the cheap charlies forum and do a public service...
Lite Beer
A five day course of Amoxillin in our village pharmacy cost 40 Baht. Hospital pharmacies do charge a lot more for drugs.
jackr
The local hospital is cheaper than any pharmacy I've been to.
Sheryl
Varies enormously with the brand, what is expensive is the imported brands. Stick with a locally made generic equivalent or, best of all when available, the GPO brand. Pharmacies like Boots, Watsons etc and also private hospital pharmacies tend to provide the expensive imports unless specifically requested otherwise. You'll get the GPO brand and other local brands easily at a government hospital or public pharmacy.
frenchfarangjomtien
Can you confirm that you are speaking about Amoxicillin with CLAVULANIC ACID ? I bought 5 days pills (1000mg) for 400 thb and i am sure that this is way too much expensive, am I right ? Antibiotics for cough/sore throat, after catching a cold. But maybe the "normal" Amoxicillin antibiotics would be enough ? Thanks a lot.
aridion
I got amoxccillin with Clavulanic acid for 98 baht for five days dosage in a local pharmacy. Some Pharmacies were charging a bit more as I remember. The Thai made drugs are always the cheapest by a distance.
ukrules
Regular Amoxicillin doesn't have clavulanic acid, it's known as 'augmentin' when mixed in this way. I have to question whether you actually need a course of antibiotics for a sore throat after a cold.
jaideeguy
Dr's here often use what I call 'the shotgun approach' to medicines and often go for the broad spectrum antibiotics just to be sure [when they arn't sure]. As stated above, most meds are cheap here except for the imports......maybe that's why they Rx them.
frenchfarangjomtien
Hi, Do you know the name of your med amoxicillin with Clavulanic or name of the lab doing it ? I can find only regular Amoxicilin by Thai labs. The one with Clavulanic seems to be only imported brands. Thanks a lot.
puuchai299
Try searching AMK 1,000 mg tablet in google, Definitely not used for colds and sore throats, 400 baht for a 5 day course i don't think is expensive.
Sheryl
Yes, amox + clavulanic available in many local brands AMK is one such (comesi n various strengths e.g. AMK1000, AMK 675 etc). Also Amoksiklav, Augclav, Cavumox, Clanoxy, clavmoxy etc etc. Many, many brands.
