Lately I have noticed a plethora of posts on TV with titles such as, "thais who speak loudly" " Why Dont Prostitutes Have Eye Brows?" and "Thai Ladies Wearing Braces cosmetic or what" . which leads me to believe that either we have way too much free time in our hands, or we are running out of things to talk about.

what you you think? Or do you think I have way too much time in my hands for asking this question?

Ohhhh, okay. I think that I used to play something called "Go Fish" when I was a kid, but if I had used the expression "shut up" my mother woulda slapped me up the back of my head!

Now I live too far away and can say it.

Sure is great to be all growed up!

SHUT UP AND FISH!

Ahhh...Do you have an 8 of diamonds?

Enlighten me?

To collect the most sets of four.

Setup

Five cards are dealt to each player if three to six players are involved. With only two players, seven cards are dealt to each.

All remaining cards are placed face down in a draw pile.

Gameplay

Randomly choose a player to go first.

On your turn, ask a player for a specific card rank. For example: "Barb, please give me your 9s." You must already hold at least one card of the requested rank.

If the player you ask has any cards of the requested rank, she must give all of her cards of that rank to you. In the example, Barb would have to give you all of her 9s.

If you get one or more cards from the player you ask, you get another turn. You may ask any player for any rank you already hold, including the same one you just asked for.

If the person you ask has no relevant cards, they say, "Go fish." You then draw the top card from the draw pile.

If you happen to draw a card of the rank asked for, show it to the other players and you get another turn. However, if you draw a card that's not the rank you asked for, it becomes the next player's turn. You keep the drawn card, whatever rank it is.

NOTE: The "next player" is the one who said "Go fish."

When you collect a set of four cards of the same rank, immediately show the set to the other players and place the four cards face down in front of yourself.

Winning

Go Fish continues until either someone has no cards left in their hand or the draw pile runs out. The winner is the player who then has the most sets of four.

Sounds like fun. If only I had friends......gotten pretty good at solitaire, though!

Yes. Far too much.

This gave me a kernel of an idea for a thread. 'How to constructively use your time in Thailand during a recession.'

Or, 'There are many other healthier things to do other than boozing and playing stink finger?' (for Pattaya residents)

Or, 'What the hell is there to do around here anyway?' (for those of us trapped in the jungle)

Because of the ever decreasing foreign currencies to bahts, inflation and rising prices, many of us living in Thailand are having to cut down on our social pursuits and are spending more time at home.

This means that more of us are taking to our computers as a pass time and on line forums such as Thai visa are becoming more widely used as a means of socialising and interacting with the outside world.

The most interesting and informative topics have already been well covered over the years, so now it`s the scraping of the bottom of the barrel time.

If and when the economy picks up and we can hit the road again more often, I think forum usage will decline or at least give us more material of interest to write about.

How sad...but how true! :(

If someone has got a few thousand plus posts then I think that answers your question. Some people obviously don't have a job or kids .

p.s. see previous posts about " go fish " as more proof !!

Exactly! That was my own twisted way of exemplifying the point the OP was trying to make.

Some how it got lost in translation because we just called it "FISH" not "GO FISH".

Congratulations! You're the only one that picked up on it.

Some posters are not in the best of health and unable to get out very often.

For the a few that have suffered strokes, have heart conditions, elderly or health issues, the computer has become they`re main source of entertainment and communication with the outside world.

There are a multitude of reasons for frequenting forums other than just having no job or children.

Forums - for people with nothing better to do.

Or for people who want to find info re:travel, banking, real estate, autos, gardening, movies, etc, etc, etc....

I'm still doing my research. I've been on the net all night looking for thumbnails of toenails....

Also composing it in such a way that it does not become a left-foot/right foot debate! laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

Dead right.

I would be lost here in this wilderness without my Thai visa for infromation, news and reports. Otherwise where else could you go for knowledge that is happening all around us?

There are still some great threads appearing on here from time to time and even the stupid one`s are always good for a laugh. So it`s informative and can be very entertaining.

It`s all for zilch so what`s the problem?

If you don`t like it, I suggest you get a refund on your sin sots, get rid of your girl who is different from all the others and go back to your own countries. Us decent really nice normal Thai visa members don`t want you here.

The sub-forums here are superb with a complete absence of hostility.

I'll book a coach with driver and we can all take a little tour . . . together.
