i can buy an fm device which will play my apple ipod through the speakers but have read that there is loads of interference while driving through built up areas, can i buy a decent device for my car in thailand, will be staying in pattaya or bkk or khon kaen/udon most times.

i forget what type of cd player i have in the car so do not know if it has an aux point built in to cd player.

If you've got that aux input jack, you are all set. I've used the FM adapter for years. Works pretty good once you get a good "blank" spot. But for sure, as you move around, so does that "blank" spot. One trick I used is to set the blank spots in memory for the different places I drove to. Helped quite a bit.

I'm lucky now as my car has a USB jack that I can just plug a stick into. Not as sophisticated as an Ipod, but don't have to worry about the battery running out!

I used to use fm adapter device, but then found a cassette thing with a wire and jack for the ipod, and that has no need for finding blank spots etc. If you want to buy my old fm thing it's a top of the line 'Belkin' thing. I miss its automatic recharging function which my cassette tape doesn't have of course.

I traveled a lot, so couldn't rely on my rental car having a cassette deck...many don't these days. But if you have one, this is the perfect device. And Belkin is one of the top producers of these iPod adapters.

Blank spots are where there is no FM signal. You need to tune to that blank spot and then tune the FM adapter to the same frequency. Problem is, as you drive, that blank spot all of a sudden becomes the local hip hop channel...or in my case...it was the local Mexican music channel!

Not sure if you can get them here, but I would think so. For sure at the Apple stores, but they will be expensive there. I found a few shops that specialize in iPods/Apple stuff that had some accessories similar to this...but never looked for this in Thailand.

I doubt Bic C would have it, but for sure Tukcom or Pantip...I would guess anyway...

I believe the place I visited was in Bangkok at Fortune? Or something like that. Maybe somebody else can help here? Or even try posting this in the Audio forum. Let me know if you want me to move this topic there.

Good luck!!!!
