September 5, 200520 yr Any forum where people are threatening to report each other offline is a bad one to be a part of, especially in Thailand where the authorities just seem to wait for excuses to close places down. Mods should discourage this kind of behavior the moment it appears for any reason- if anyone should be reporting anyone, it should be the mods (that's why there are mods). Of course, if someone is seriously convinced that criminal activity is taking place on the forum and that the mods are NOT dealing with it, then I guess that's another matter. But I've never thought the mods here were slack at their jobs, and it should certainly be their place to decide first. I would vote Meelousee gets a long or permanent vacation. If PCA is up to monkey business, then he should go, too- but I don't think inviting the police to look into the business is helpful for anyone on the forum, the way things work. "Steven"
September 5, 200520 yr if anyone should be reporting anyone, it should be the mods (that's why there are mods) It either is a Forum where people can boast about turning others in, or it is not. Its surely not the Moderators duty to file police complaints. Its their job to moderate a Forum -closing down illegal topics, and leaving it at that. Of course if someone is hellbent on reporting a post to the Cops, then there's not much one can do to stop them. Even if they make a public 'song and dance' about it, which, unless they were daft they wouldn't.

Unfortunately, "instant email notifications" cannot be withdrawn, so even if the post was deleted immediately, some people would still get the notification email. As for "dobbing in", I believe it is an Australian phrase meaning "to report someone to an authority because of a perceived offence that they have committed". Some call it "public spirited" to report people to the authorities, others believe it is a heinous crime to "snitch". I think it depends on the circumstances. I would certainly "dob in" a "mate" if I found him beating his g/f or wife or dealing drugs or .... it just depends on the circumstances.
