Reasonably Priced Recommended Hotels

Hi all, will be back in Thailand mid February. Have a busy schedule planned with inlaws etc but thought I would pop down to Pattaya for a few days just to see what its all about.

In all the years of visiting Thailand I have never been and thought it was about time to see if its as bad/good as everyone says.

What we will be looking for is a hotel near the centre (not sure about locations) but as we will have already spent a week at the beach in cha am/hua hin doesnt need to be quiet.

Where would you recommend for about 800-1500 baht, swimming pool would be nice, breakfast, cable tv etc.

I look forward to your thoughts,

many thanks,

Sean.

If you want to be in Pattaya the Lek Hotel is pretty much in the middle of things on Second Road and in your price range. They have a pool and a buffet breakfast for B110. Tel: 038 425550/2.

I assume that 'we' means you & the GF.

Also, as it's your first time, better to stay somewhere on the Beach Rd / Second Road 'loop'.

The GF & I stayed at the Sabai Inn on soi 2 last year. Cheap & very nice.

1000B is a bit steep for Feb, especially as it doesn't include breakfast. They don't have a pool, but you can use their sister hotel's (Sabai Lodge) pools directly opposite for free. Best features are very large beds, in room safe, free reliable WI-FI, cheapish mini bar, large air-con, free pool / snooker tables. We had an inside room which was very cool & always mozzie free (downside no windows though).

Sois 2 & 3 have a few nice bars, massage joints & soapies :whistling: at the Second Rd ends. Also there is a Big C, a few bar complexes & KFC nearby on Second Road. For a nice breakfast buffet, I recommend 'Lek Villa' on the Naklua Rd, 95B & available until 1pm; nice hotel too! The 'Sala Thai' restaurant opposite the Sabai Inn also does a very nice breakfast buffet, although a bit pricey at 200B.

Soi 2 is a tad far from Walking St, but only 10m / 10B on the baht bus, many of which regularly pass right by the hotel entrance. It's also a nice 20-30 minute walk in the shade along the promenade to WS; a good way to explore all the sois. Speaking of which, here's a guide to the bars / areas, amongst other things.

I stay at the queen victoria inn.I believe around 1000 baht. They have A full restaurant.

The only problem with it is ,is the location.Thats why I stayed there.Soi 6 is ful of short time bars.

Never A dull moment.

There are so many reasonable ones in that price range but the one i usally perfer is the Pattaya Bay Resort just behind the The Avenue. Usually need to book ahead because it can be bookedout by the regulars returning . Starts about 1500 high season . Pattaya Bay Resort.

Also the Passadena Lodge in LK Metro is nice , but does not have a pool or breakfast. Not too much of a problem though because of its location Passadena Lodge

Welcome Plaza on Second road, nice big pool, good resturant, easy parking in their huge car park and walking distance to beach, shopping plazas etc, very handy.

Thanks for all the replies, I will have a look through the different recommendations and hopefully get somewhere booked for a few days.
