Where To Find Mail-Order Dates (Fruit, Not A Companion)

Hello,

I am on a raw food diet and would like to add dates to my menu. I live in Ratchaburi Province and would like to know where I can get a steady supply of dates and possibly figs. Organic would be good but not necessary. I haven't done much looking, but I am under the impression they are not readily available.

Thanks for any help.

Good for you man, nice to eat raw. The animals like it too. I have buddies here who still eat animals, it's so unnecessary.

I eat most of my calories ( 80%) these days from fruit. I think you must be leaning this direction.

Been a vegetarian for over 35 years and thought I would take it to the next step higher.

Dates can help get your caliories up but they are expensive here in Thailand. I found them at Top Markets. Not sure if they are around your area. Have to keep those calories up or you will go back to cook foods.

Fun to ride my bicycle on a hard ride and pop a date every 15 minutes. Helps alot.

Do not think you will get many if any responces here on TVisa. They love their dairy and dead anamles to much.

Do a 10 banana 10 dates smoothie....about 1200 calories...then get out and move your body.:)))

Yes I love my dead animals.. alive they make too much of a ruckus as I eat them. You are what you eat id rather be a lion (they dont eat grass) then a pig.

But its always good to find alternative sources of protein and calories. I am with sendbaht here that it will be hard to find them at a reasonable price. In my home country Holland we got them a lot because immigrants liked them. You might have more of a chance if you look in muslim area's (though most muslims here are thais so i dont know if it helps.)

As for the vegetarian non vegetarian debate.. to each his or her own but know this even the apes that are closes related to us don't pass up animals to supplement their diet. It is speculated that we have evolved and got bigger brains because we did the same.

Spent 8 hours planting seeds in the garden today, mostly into planters in the greenhouse, to be transplanted later. If you don't plant, you don't have a garden. Got 20 different veggies started. How's that for optimism? Now, later all I will need is some rain. Maybe I should plant a date tree.:)

That is the one thing i really hate gardening. I love it and respect people for it but i dont have the patience or the will. I keep forgetting to water my flowers even if i only got a few.

I looked on ebay but because dades are heavy so its not economically to buy them abroad. So i guess the OP is stuck to looking for thai sources.

Hello, and sorry for the delay in responding. I just got back from two weeks in India, my first trip. I stayed in Junagadh, Gujarat.

Thanks for the informational replies. I did try some local places and found some good dates at a 'health' food / herb store. Expensive, but not preventive.

If anyone is going to India for the first time, I can give some useful and time-saving suggestions about Internet access, sim cards, and maybe a few other things. Just send me a PM or reply to this post.

Thanks again to the responders and to TV.
