Thai - Cambodia Conflict Ubon Ratchathani Airport Tightens Security Amid Border Tension
If that airport can handle only 1,050 passenger an hour, then replace the operator. The airport is - to be timid - HUGE and has a much higher capacity. Latter not needed as there is mostly commercial traffic on a domestic scale only. The runway could accommodate serious widebody aircraft - as a relict from the Indochina war. No lack of self-confidence refers to Ubon Ratchathani INTERNATIONAL airport except, that there are no international flights nowhere. Today completely oversized it will serve the destination goals for years to come; the security issue is another subject but, in this context, I believe it has to do with "instigating fear" rather than be a factual piece of news 8-) -

Spuds better than French Fries
I was in the fresh produce trade for my entire working life, so I think I'm qualified to judge a spud or two! The quality of the humble potato in Thailand varies from store to store; sadly, most are of a low standard simply because of the way they are handled and displayed, the actual potato was probably fine initially, but exposure to strong light, high temperatures and humidity soon takes its toll. By far the best I've seen (and purchased) is in Makro, where they are not washed, only brushed, consistently of a good standard and all-around usage. Definitely on par with UK supermarket quality, albeit with a lack of variety. It would be nice if they displayed variety and the country of origin! BTW, most of the potatoes in Thailand are sourced from China. -

Bought some Thai ones in Makro last week........absolutely rotten inside, soft and discoloured. 'Foreign' ones were 5 Bht a kilo more expensive, Egyptian, and lovely. -
