PM to address social discrepancies in several areas.

By NUPPOL SUVANSOMBUT.

BANGKOK, 27 February 2011 (NNT)-Prime Minister ABhisit Vejjajiva says in the efforts to bridge social gaps, the government has assured workers of their social security entitlements while also making sure there will be enough supplies of palm oil for consumers next week.

Speaking at Chinorot Witthayalai yesterday where he presided over the charity for less fortunate students, he said the government had been trying to reduce social discrepancies during the last two years. In May, he plans to raise the employment standards by including workers who have not been covered in the past in the social security system.

They will be asked to pay as little as 70-100 baht a month while the government will contribute the rest of the social security money to the fund. In other areas, several motorcycle taxis stands will be exempted from acquiring a new yellow license plate as required previously while they will also be entitled to social welfare benefits.

Moreover, police have been assigned to take a serious move against narcotic drugs. Street lights will be brightened with the help of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority to reduce crimes.

While it is true he is addressing Social discrepancies he is only opening the door. there is much to be done. :)

But unlike the opposition he is starting to do some thing. Kind of hard when part of the lawmakers only work to get you out of office rather than help the poor who they claim to represent.:(
