Mini Van Hire

Hi

Back over in July for 3 weeks.

This time we have more travellers and i am again the driver!

We normally hire a toyota fortuner from Mastercar Rental next to the airport.

But they have nothing larger than a Fortuner.

Any ideas on where I can hire a minivan from a reputable company?

I have done all the searches with Avis, Budget etc, but no joy.

Fast Car Hire has minivans and they have always treated me well when i have hired cars thru them. I have never hired a mini van , but on their web they list them but say they are in high demand. Hope this helps .

How many people are you looking at driving about ? Once you start running people about in a mini bus then you risk upsetting the taxi drivers and minibus drivers. They will simply see you taking their customers from them even though you are just running friends about. If you are going to be doing the tourist places this will rub it in even more. Maybe better getting a couple of cars ?

Thanks for reply. Did not think about this scenario. I speak some thai, so could explain if need be and if the vehicle has got a rental plate on it surely they would leave me alone.

FastCar deals with both Budget and Thai rent a car. I book for the period required and the vehicle i want and then pay thru PayPal, print out the voucher and when you pick up the vehicle or the vehicle is delivered to you, you give them the voucher. Very similar set up to Agoda for hotels if you have ever used them.. Sometimes they may substitute a Honda for a Toyota if you are hiring a car depending on availability but it has never been a drama for me.

There are probably cheaper rentals but i found Fast Car is reliable.

The fact it is a rental vehicle just makes it that much more expensive to sort out if they take offence. If it was me I would be looking to hire a vehicle with a Thai driver and then you have no problems. A7 seater car and I don't think you would get any problems but as said with a minibus its a different game.
