tim armstrong
Ageing is inevitable and gives you wisdom. Being old is a state of mind. Being fat is avoidable, but considered to be a sign of wealth, and even attractiveness Balding is unavoidable, genetically determined and sexy. All in all, not too bad. stander
I started to pile on the pounds when I stopped smoking in 1997. I get a company medical every year and I have a 4 monthly check-up, as per company policy for over 50's and my doctor at Bumrungrad describes me as "Fat, but Fit" I would dearly love to lose the excess weight, but I am a stress eater, so it's catch 22 for me. I have even thought about starting smoking again!!!!!!!
Berkshire
There's a guy on Stickman who writes in from time to time and he refers to himself as "Old, fat, and bald." Doesn't seem to be any shame in that.

Doesn't seem to be any shame in that And so there shouldn't be. It's just people who need to feel better about themselves who make comments on people's appearance. I had a chat about this with a neighbour of mine who is old and fat but a smashing bloke who has been here for almost 40 years now. His take on it was that these people want to feel like they're joining an exclusive club when they finally settle here but find out it's really just the same as the pub back at home but with more women on offer and a better climate. Then there are probably no successful professionals at Thai visa just read how they belittle all the Thais. I don't belittle people, fat just means they have different priorities as me. Lucky you! Even in the West I heard many derogatory opinions about others - albeit mainly racist jokes. In my experience men in the West comment about unattractive women and women comment about unattractive men, or attractive in either case of course! Its one of those things that an unattractive person with an attractive partner stand out - and most people comment (in the West). Why are 'red haired females' considered hot and firey(sp), whilst ginger blokes are up for ridicule their whole lives? Good job it doesn't bother me! Tactically bald - I'm still chuckling! Indeed they seemed to believe and endorse the same opinions and such talk wasnt even looked upon as a joke, rather taken as plain as talking about the weather. Quite honestly this is not just an Isaan thing, Should have just left location out and the truth is there. I have asked this question a few times while here over the last 4 years and the comments posted above are basically the truth to a great degree. Especially when the man is say 60+ and the girl say late teens early 20's. The girl basically surrenders to the better need of the family whether she loves him or not or how repulsive he may look. Most Thais know this to be deal as well. It is a waiting game for them and they know most( I generalize here of course) old, fat and bald guys are usually lethargic and cannot muster up the energy to "Sex it up" or if they do, it is quite infrequent . Of course the bald part has nothing to do with it but the old and fat sure does. That is the medical reality hence the invent of Viagra, Cialis, Penal pumps, Extenze and what ever else is sold on Western TV. This is probably why most men defend their position. Most men out of shape take a multitude of meds to keep cholesterol down, diabetes in check, weight loss pills, anti plaque pills, blood thinners. The result of the med cocktail is their sex capability is long gone. Your health is your best friend. For me, I do not care. Getting old is what happens, Getting fat is by choice and we all know the health implications. Bald looks sharp on some guys, however the "comb over" or the "Crown top" guys should just give up and shave it clean. Hair does not make a man keeping 5 hairs is not gonna land you the prize..HAHAHA. I have "Lucky" genes I guess based on the stereo typical comments, thin, full head of hair and not looking 50 by comments from friends and my GF. I guess what is old anyway?. Is their a date in mind or is based on appearance? I have seen some run down, dumpy look men that are 10 years younger then me. Alcohol, smoking and lack of personal health maintenance is the cause. Honestly I only laugh about the men that come here and dye their hair, get face lifts, go get Tattoo'd up, buy a big motorcycle having never even rode one back in their home country, dress like a 20 year old and then go act like a jerkoff in a bar. I have witnessed this a few times. Those poor men are losssssssst and so insecure. Must have had a bad life back home

JurgenG
Honestly, what the fuss about being young and good looking ? What is the personnal merit ? You're just born this way, nothing much to bragg about. On the other hand, being old and successful, that something to be proud of. You're smart and have good genes. That's something valuable. You're smart and have good genes. That's something valuable. Exactly, what's the fuss? Yet most TV poster seem to brag about only associating with young, good looking women. How many times do you hear them brag about hooking up with a successful, smart woman? It's amusing that most people on this thread have suggested that appearances don't matter, yet I would be willing to bet that a lot of them are the same guys who talk about Thai women being "old" and "past their peak" once they hit 30, and that if a Thai woman hits 70 kilos you should toss her out for a younger, sexier, more attractive version. Hmmm.....but when the guys are being called old, fat, & balding, then they get defensive and talk about how looks don't matter? Two words: double standard.
