I keep hearing "3 entry Tourist Visa", does this mean there is a type of visa that I can obtain called the "3 entry tourist visa" or I can obtain tourist visa up to 3 times in a row, which I presume in a given year before I can do that again.

Okay so this is something quite recent, or at least within the last couple of years.

Can this special visa be obtained at the thai consulate in Los Angeles before I head out to thailand?

And if anyone has done so what is the cost?

Lastly, this 3 entry tourist visa allows me to just step out of the country at the border for a 30 min breather and step right back in without applying for any visa?

ex..laos or burmese border?

It is nothing new and has been available for years. It will normally have the same 6 month validity as a two entry visa and is intended to be used for travel to other countries and return to Thailand when touring the area so much more likely to be issued to someone with a planned itinerary showing such.

Eight years ago I obtained a Four Entry Tourist Visa.

From the Thai Consulate in Hull UK.

Is the official term for "3 entry tourist visa" called "multiple entry tourist visa" in the US thai embassy?

Trying to figure if I step into the thai embassy and request 3 entry will it be referred as multiple entry tourist visa, dont want to be confused with the two if they actually mean the same thing.

Tourist visa applications typically list check box type single entry, double or triple entry on the top right section. I have never seen multiple entry listed as an option.

the next nearest embassy is in Chicago then NY or DC. Probably gotta do it through the mail.

I guess when I said multiple entry visa I was looking at the Non-immigrant visas on the Los Angeles website that offers 1 year multiple-entry visa for non-immigrant visas at $175 or 3 year multiple-entry at $350 which led me the confusion. Thanks guys for clearing this up for me.

There are many other Consulates (Honorary type) that can issue visas. Portland, Denver, Huston are all west of Chicago and believe most offer mail service.
