@HDRIDER -

Sure wish I could get you to post your speeds - and outages - so everybody in Phuket will know....

3BB had an island-wide outage last month. We were able to confirm it because we had several posts in different locations. 3BB checked our logs.

Maybe HD is like me and doesn't worry to much about speeds although its annoying sometimes

I just want my computer to work when i switch it on.:)

I agree with you Peter, I need it to just work mostly... But I do have the need for decent speed as well (I'm into bit torrents for TV shows, Skype and internet phone calls). I got so frustrated with CAT through my cable company, that I got 3bb. Well that has gone out too, plus some of my programs (bit torrent clients) don't seem to work with 3bb... So I kept both. Now I have an aircard for when I'm not at home, like now, or when nothing else works... It is slow though... But it works!

Of course, the problem isn't whether you're getting 1.4 Mbps or 1.8 Mbps. The problem is whether you're getting something usable or not. The speed reporting site is the only way we have to tell the Powers That Be when we're getting really lousy service - and it documents the problems, instead of having a bunch of anecdotal evidence.

3BB is one of the Internet Service Providers that blocks some torrent software. Drop by one of the Sunday morning Computer Clinics. We talk about - wail about - blocked torrents all the time. There are subtleties. Downloading a torrent through a GPRS connection is like trying to drain a pool with a straw.

I just kept calling KPP/CAT until they finally fixed their service I was paying for and now it tests are what it says I should get most of the time. 3bb always tests at what they say I show get, but when using VOIP my signal quality goes from good to fair, so packets are being dropped... I wouldn't even try to run torrents with GRPS! From what i have read and seen CAT doesn't block torrents and 3bb does... So, I run torrents on one computer on CAT while using 3bb for communication... Frostwire will run on 3bb, but utorrents, Transmission and other clients won't, from what I've found... EDGE is a last resort for communication only. I'm currently out in Sa Kaew and there isn't any other internet around where I am, other than EDGE...
