I'm applying for an extention of stay [tm7] on my non imm "o" [married] visa and have previously been on the single entry, but this time, I need to travel out of country and need a multiple entry.

Do I apply with my extention?? or separately??

From Chiang mai, the final stamp takes up to a month for the extention, but I would like to exit before songkran. Can I exit [with multilple entry] before getting final stamp?? or do I have to suffer another hot insane songkran??

Thanks in advance for the straight info........

A re-entry permit is seperate from the "Extension of Stay" and will only keep the current permission to stay valid if you exit the country. Depends on how many trips you want to make, before geting the final one year permission to stay, but a single is 1,000 Baht, multi 3,800 Baht.

If you can be sure to return before the the 30 day wait a single re-entry permit at 1,000 baht would cover that. After final extension received you could get a multi re-entry permit at 3.8k to cover that period.

Do you think the kind uniformed folks at immigration would give me an extra couple of weeks to receive my final stamp??.......seems like the easiest way to me.

You can apply for a 60 day extension for 1,900 baht and at the end of that apply for the 1 year extension.

A re-entry permit is only valid till your current permission to stay ends. So for the 60 days a single is normally the most economic.

The extension of stay allows only 30 days.

3. During the proceedings of the consideration of an Alien application in the Kingdom as clause 2, the

alien is allowed to stay temporarily in the Kingdom. The competent official may grant the alien a

temporary stay several times if necessary under the circumstances, but the total number shall not

exceed 30 days counting from the day after the expiration date.

Disregard my other comments, I think I see your point now. But, is it possible to apply for the 60 day extension, prior to starting the one year extension request?

Apologies for the confusion, I was trying to edit my post when I understood your comments, and you answered my question. Thanks.

That would be an independent extension of stay for 60 days with TM.7 and payment. jaideeguy asked about getting more than 30 days for the one year extension of stay and that is not allowed per my post. It would require two applications for extension of stay using the 60 days followed by the one year process.

I just don't want to loose the continuity of my non imm O visa and have to start all over again especially from the latest reports on the crowds and insanity at the CM immigration office. Have heard reports of people showing up at immigraion at 7:30 and not seeing an officer until after noon.

Going in tomorrow and hope to have a plan of action before seeing the officials.

LB3....'jaideeguy asked about getting more than 30 days for the one year extension of stay and that is not allowed per my post.'

Actually, I was asking if I could leave the country during the wait for final stamp period and maybe extending the month wait. I guess it's like most other things here.....up2them??

And that was what I answered - they are not allowed to provide more than 30 days at a time so do not believe it would be up to them. The option remains to get the 60 day extension however.

OK Lop3....will inquire about that when I go in tomorrow. Thanks for the input....

But, I have had THEM bend the rules in the past and can always hope for that. I just wanna escape before songkran. Sometimes I feel like a prisoner here, the way they treat us.
