Polypropylene Rope

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have seen on previous occaisions some shop houses in the centre of Bangkok selling polypropylene rope, but I cannot remember where it is.

Anyone know where?

There's show just up Ratchadapisek Road (other side of Sukhumvit to Asoke - junction with Soi 16) just around the corner from the BTS ... on right hand side when you have your back to Sukhumvit ..... or diagonally opposite Soi Cowboy for people who navigate via night-spots!

Small shop that sells all sorts of rope.

What exactly is 'polypropylene rope' and how to distinguish it from general plastic rope?

Big C or Teso usually sell plastic rope unless you're looking for a specialised product.

Near all Home Marts, Home Pro, Kanyong and all the mom n pop hardware shops stock Polypropylene rope. PattayaParent - what is plastic rope?

^That stuff in your picture!!

That is polypropylene rope, so i guess you use a different name for it, never heard it called plastic rope before though, you learn something every day!!

Polypropylene rope or Polyethylene rope,? and what diameter are you looking for?, I think the cheap stuff we see everywhere is polyethylene

Technically you would most likely be correct as most of those ropes manufactured, even the stronger dyneema or samson ropes which can be 8 or 10 times stronger than steel of the same diameter have some form of plastics content added in the manufacturing process.

Hi all,

I am panning on heading into Bangkok tomorrow to visit the Motor Show, and will go around looking for the rope.

While running marinas in Australia, I always used 16mm "silver" rope to make up brthing lines. Always noted the stuff was imported from THailand. Now I am here, I can't believe I can't find it here in Pattaya.

Polypropolyne, polyethelyne or pastic rope. Good for mooring lines on boats and prefer it to Nylon rope as it does not get as stiff.

Me neither seeing as there's a boating chandlers in Naklua (OK technically not Pattaya).

It's on the left just past the traffic lights on Sukhumvit.

Also try the chandlers at The View off Sukhumvit in Jomtien.
