webfact
Laotian girl cut in half by speeding Porsche Pathum Thani - A 17-year-old Laotian girl was cut in half by a speeding Porsche car when crossed the road here Friday afternoon. Police quoted a witness as saying that the girl, who was a worker of a foods shop, was crossing the road back from a noodle shop where she bough her lunch when she was hit. The accident happened at 2:30 pm on the Pathum Thani-Bang Bua Thong Road in front of Parichart Housing Estate in Muang district. Initially, only the lower half of her body was found in the ditch in the middle of the road. Later on, her upper half was found on the seat near the driver seat in the car, which was left about 10 kilometres from the scene. It crashed through the windshield and landed on the seat. Police said the car has been stolen and the driver was fleeing. -- The Nation 2011-03-

happyrobert
The guy drives ten freakin kilometers afterwards ? ! It never ceases to amaze me how stone-hearted some people are. Cops won't catch him, as if it weren't tragic enough. So they'll probably charge the car's owner - mark my words and keep us abreast of any updates, please, Webfact. asiawatcher
I can't imagine the horror her parents must endure. This animal (if he is ever caught) needs to be given the Ghengis Khan treatment and pulled apart from limb to limb by horses. An eye for an eye. bangkapi
Put 2 and 2 together. The car was NOT stolen. Anyone wealthy enough to own a Porsche... ... is wealthy enough to make the ... ... problem go away... (My guess) This is the last you have heard of this story in the news. Nobody goes around stealing a Porsche in Thailand.

Though I can agree someone with that kind of disposable cash also has disposable clout up to a certain point, that point may have been reached in this case.... RIP poor girl. elcent
as far as I know ... When this car was stolen by a gang(with or without consent of the owner) they would have taken the (insurance/tax) stickers off in advance and even changed the licence plate in order to get it out of the country as fast as possible. This could be quickly found out.

appropriate
RIP. Poor Lao food vendor Vs rich Thai porsche owner*. Imagine that this won't be heard of again. * I agree that it was probably the owner, no car thieves would steal a porsche unless as part of a police or criminal gang doing so as an insurance scam. Local car thieves would be well aware that being caught stealing a porsche would likely end with the owner paying the police to ensure the thief ends up in headless in a ditch. canuckamuck
The Thai police were pursuing a stolen car? I doubt it, that would require detective work, communication, and some something better than a Honda wave.

Crossy
I know the place where it happened, it's just down the road from our home. A wide, straight and fast road with few to no pedestrian crossing places, poor girl (hopefully) never knew what hit her. RIP I too subscribe to the 'not really stolen' school, hopefully the real culprit will be found and dealt with.
Oberkommando
This may be a related incident or maybe not but the Thai TV star called 'Porsche' was speeding on Rajapreuk road in Bangkok and hit a young girl breaking her neck and arms earlier today. roamer
Out of interest just popped next door and asked the guys in the Porsche workshop how easy it is to steal a Porsche. Their answer was that unless its over 12 years old you need a low loader...........or the key.
